William Quartermain of Bryn Mawr had five pars on his scorecard as he captured the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour’s coed 12-and-under Tour Championship with a 4-over-par 37 with the heat and humidity turned up on high July 27th at McCall Golf Club in Upper Darby.
Quartermain, a product of the junior program at Llanerch Country Club a few miles up the road from McCall, made four straight pars from the second through the fifth holes.
J.D. Sivel of Hanover matched Quartermain’s 4-over 37, but it looks like the Philly Junior Tour broke the tie and the title went to Quartermain. Sivel made a birdie at the first hole and had three pars on his card.
Rayan Shah of Newtown, a regular on the leaderboard among the nine-holers all season, finished a shot behind Quartermain and Sivel in third place with a 5-over 38. Shah had five pars on his card.
Bobby Stefanski of Newtown Square and Taimoor Naseem of Sinking Spring matched Shah’s 38, but again it looks like the Philly Junior Tour broke the tie and awarded Shah third place with Stefanski and Naseem listed as tied for fourth.
Stefanski had it going for a long time in his round as he rattled off six straight pars on his first six holes before cooling off. Naseem made a birdie on the first hole and had three pars on his card.
Gavin Lane of Cinnaminson, N.J. and Bryce Bussom of Lewisburg finished in a tie for sixth place, each recording a 6-over 39.
In case you were unaware how competitive the coed 12-and-under division is, that would make eight players separated by just two shots at the top of the leaderboard in the Philly Junior Tour Championship.
Jack Sokol of Villanova took ninth place with a 41.
Rounding out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under Philly Junior Tour Championship were three players tied for 10th place, including two members of Yardley’s Team Revness, Ben Revness and Adam Revness, and Max Davis of Newtown Square, as each registered a 42.
