Brian Cotter of Cherry Hill, N.J. finished strong while posting a 3-over-par 73 to claim a victory in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Philmont Country Club Aug. 15th.
Cotter made birdies at the eighth and 18th holes and had 11 pars on his scorecard. Cotter went 1-under over the last seven holes at Philmont to pull away for the win.
Owen Tisner of Dresher made birdies at the fourth and eighth holes and had eight pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors, finishing four shots behind Cotter with a 77.
Kasim Narinesingh-Smith, a senior at Kennett, and Nathan Smith of Chestertown, Md. finished in a tie for third place as each posted a 78.
A lot of the junior players in the Philadelphia suburbs were making preparations for the upcoming scholastic season last week and Narinesingh-Smith, who finished in a tie for 19th place in the PIAA Class AAA Championship at Penn State’s White Course last fall, showed he’s ready for high school golf. Narinesingh-Smith had 10 pars on his scorecard.
Smith finished his round with a birdie on the 18th hole and had nine pars on his card.
Gavin Dirkes of Berwyn took fifth place with a 79, William Forman of Wayne was sixth with an 81 and Luke Tappeiner of Northfield, N.J. was seventh with an 85.
Matthew Duphorn of Erial, N.J. and James Castronuovo of Maple Glen shared eighth place, each landing on 87, and Brandon Carrigan of Warrington rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as he finished in 10th place with an 89.
P.J. Foley, another Northfield, N.J. guy, and Christopher Mark Parrish of Woolwich Township, N.J. shared top honors in the 13-to-15 division as each recorded a 6-over 76.
Foley made birdies at the eighth, 12th and 18th holes and had seven pars on his scorecard and Parrish made a birdie at six and had 11 pars on his card. Parrish toured the outgoing nine at Philmont in even-par 35.
Judd Fletcher of Moorestown, N.J. made a birdie at the 13th hole and had 10 pars on his card as he finished in third place with a 79.
Quinn Gallagher of Bryn Mawr and Benjamin Moorhouse of Blue Bell shared fourth place, each registering an 84, and Jackson Lane of Cinnaminson, N.J., and William Savarese of Narberth finished in a tie for sixth place, each posting an 86.
Mason Stephan of Collegeville took eighth place with an 88, Bryan Hebding of Bel Air, Md. was ninth with an 89 and James Rogers of Philadelphia rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished 10th with a 94.
Ava Svindland of Wilmington, Del. made birdies at the 10th and 18th holes and had six pars on her scorecard as she finished with a solid 80 to capture a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 16-to-18 division.
Lilly Reagan of Philadelphia was the runnerup in the 16-to-18 division as she carded a 128.
Gabrielle Hemstead of Milton, Del. was the lone entry in the 13-to-15 division and she made pars on the eighth and 17th holes on her way to a 100.
Rayan Shah of Newtown continued his recent roll as he finished up with a birdie at the ninth hole and had three pars on his scorecard while besting the nine-holers with a 5-over 40.
It was Shah’s fifth straight victory in the coed 12-and-under division and his 18th win of the season. A day earlier Shah topped the field of nine-holers in the Junior Tour Championship at Chester Valley Golf Club.
Jack Metroka of Meadowbrook had three pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with an 8-over 43. Logan Turner of Berwyn made back-to-back pars on the fifth and sixth holes as he finished a shot behind Metroka in third place with a 44.
Rithvik Nimma of Newtown took fourth place with a 45, Henry Mysliwiec of Doylestown was fifth with a 48, Gavin Lane, another member of Team Lane out of Cinnaminson, N.J., was sixth with a 49 and Jack Gilbert of Bryn Mawr was seventh with a 52.
Ryan Dungan of Warrington and Stephen Comly III of Newtown Square finished in a tie for eighth place, each registering a 53.
Rounding out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under division were three players tied for 10th place at 56, including Ryan Comly, another member of Newtown Square’s Team Comly, Emilee Davoli of Ambler and Landyn Geller of Doylestown.
