Jolie Pastorick swooped in from Sarasota, Fla. to capture a victory in the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour’s inaugural Girls Summer Championship July 31st with a sparkling 2-under-par 72 at Manufacturers Golf & Country Club, the William Flynn gem in Fort Washington.
Pastorick got her season off to a great start when she finished in third place in the Girls 14-15 division in the Drive, Chip & Putt Finals at Augusta National Golf Club the Sunday before the Masters.
Pastorick dominated the outgoing nine at Manufacturers with birdies at the third, seventh and eighth holes and six pars as she toured the front side in 3-under 33. Pastorick had three more birdies on the incoming nine at the 10th, 16th and 18th holes and finished with eight total pars on her scorecard.
Looks like there was overall 13-to-18 scoring, but most of the top 10 overall scores came out of the younger 13-to-15 division, led by Pastorick, who is a Class of 2027 competitor, the equivalent of an incoming high school freshman.
Katherine Liu of Moorestown, N.J. made a birdie at the 10th hole and had 11 pars on her card as she was the runnerup to Pastorick in the 13-to-15 division with a 6-over 80.
Giulia Weisser of Reading made a birdie at the 16th hole and had nine pars on her card as she finished two shots behind Liu in third place with an 82.
Elayna Fanelli of Villanova took fourth place with an 83, Corinne McReynolds of Wayne was fifth with an 84, Mina Benedetto of West Chester was sixth with an 89 and Megan Choi of Penn Valley and Gabrielle Hamstead of Milton, Del. shared seventh place, each landing on 94.
Choi and Hamstead were the last two players in the 13-to-15 division to crack the top 10 in the overall scoring as they finished in a tie for eighth place.
Daria Yohe of Willow Grove took ninth place with a 99 and Mariana Walker of Richboro rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as she finished alone in 10th place with a 103.
Elizabeth Hershey, a sophomore on Episcopal Academy’s Inter-Ac League championship team in the spring, had five pars on her scorecard as she claimed a Girls Summer Championship victory in the 16-to-18 division with a 91.
Hershey finished in seventh place in the overall 13-to-18 scoring.
Upper Merion junior Alyssa Schuebel made a birdie on the ninth hole and had three pars on her card as she earned runnerup honors among the older girls with a 95. Schuebel rounded out the top 10 in the overall scoring, finishing alone in 10th place.
Annalise Capoli of Medford, N.J. had two pars on her card as she finished third in the 16-to-18 division with a 103.
Shayla Ames of Bethlehem took fourth place with a 104 and Lauren Young of Devon rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as she finished fifth with a 107.
