Logan Cassidy of Bensalem had the best score of the day, a 2-over-par 69, as the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour visited John F. Byrne Golf Club, a municipal course in Philadelphia, Aug. 9th.
Cassidy, playing in the younger 13-to-15 division, made a birdie at the 10th hole and another at the 505-yard, par-5 16th and had 12 pars on his scorecard in breaking 70 on the par-67 John F. Byrne layout.
Paul Reilly of West Creek, N.J. made a birdie on the fourth hole and had 10 pars on his card, six of them on the outgoing nine, as he earned runnerup honors in the 13-to-15 division with a 6-over 73.
A couple of Philly guys, Jake Ruppert and James Rogers, finished in a tie for third place among the younger guys, each posting a 79. Ruppert made a birdie on the 13th hole and had six pars on his card while Rogers had 10 pars, seven of them on the front nine at John F. Byrne.
Lyncoln Bromley of Haddonfield, N.J. took fifth place with an 84, Gabriel Abalos of Washington Township, N.J. was sixth with an 88 and Cole Kelly of Philadelphia was seventh with an 89.
Hank Charlton took eighth place with a 90, Braydon Dolan of Springfield was ninth with a 107 and Collin Pollock rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as he finished 10th with a 120.
Aidan Reilly of Pennsauken, N.J. made a birdie on the par-5 16th hole and had 12 pars on his scorecard, including a run of seven straight pars from six through 12, as he tallied a 5-over 72 to earn a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division.
Tower Hill School senior Michael Dignazio made a birdie on the third hole and had 11 pars on his card as he finished in second place, a shot behind Reilly with a 6-over 73.
Caden Quinn of Haddonfield, N.J. was another player who picked up a birdie at the par-5 16th hole and had six pars on his card as he finished in third place among the older guys with a 79.
Radnor junior Will Walsh took fourth place with an 83, Chase Matthews of Langhorne was fifth with an 87 and Sean Allen Jr. of Philadelphia rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as he finished sixth with a 106.F
Lilly Reagan of Philadelphia was the lone girl to tee it up at John F. Byrne and registered a 116 to come away with a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division.
For the 14th time in 2023, Rayan Shah of Newtown bested the field of nine-holers with a 4-over 37. Shah made a birdie on the seventh hole and had four pars on his scorecard.
Ethan Meersman of Fort Washington and Henry Sokol of Villanova shared runnerup honors as each finished five shots behind Shah with a 9-over 42. Meersman had four pars on his card and Henry Sokol made a birdie on the seventh hole after opening his round with back-to-back pars on one and two.
Henry Sokol’s twin brother, Jack Sokol, took fourth place with a 44, Nathan Lavin of Burlington, N.J. was fifth with a 49 and Grant Cooper of Erdenheim was sixth with a 54.
Team Yan of Malvern accounted for the final two spots in the coed 12-and-under division as Jia Yan took seventh place with a 55 and Zheng Yan was eighth with a 60.
