The Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop Aug. 9th at Indian Spring Golf Course in Marlton, N.J. had some weather issues with the remnants of Hurricane Debby hanging around.
Trevor Sieben of Medford, N.J. didn’t quite complete 18 holes, but, at 3-over-par 64 for 16 holes, had the best round of the day going and earned a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division.
Sieben, the Player of the Year in the 13-to-15 division in 2023, made birdies on the second and 16th holes, his final hole of the day, and had nine pars on his scorecard.
Landon Finsen of Westampton, N.J. made birdies at the 13th and 16th holes and had six pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors among the younger guys with a 9-over 70 total for 16 holes.
Charles Ball of West Chester made a birdie at the fourth hole, went back-to-back with birdies at eight and nine and had five pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Finsen in third place with a 71.
Henry Sokol of Villanova, who was in the midst of a strong run of play on the Philly Junior Tour, Sabatine Sciarra of Medford, N.J. and Maximus Petrakis, playing close to his Marlton, N.J. home, finished in a tie for fourth place, each landing on 72.
Ben Mayer, a junior on the Garnet Valley golf team, took seventh place with a 74 and Patrick Hiltner of Northfield, N.J. finished eighth with a 75.
Rounding out the top 10 in the weather-shortened 13-to-15 division was the trio of Ethan Clouser of Newtown, Ruben Yoon of Wilmington, Del. and Arbor Frieberg of Newark, Del. as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each recording a 76.
Alex Henbest of Manahawkin, N.J. made a birdie on the fourth hole and had 11 pars on his scorecard as he earned a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division, which did complete the full 18-hole loop at Indian Spring, with a solid 6-over 76.
Christopher Parrish of Woolwich Township, N.J. matched Henbest’s birdie at the fourth hole and had nine pars on his card, finishing up his round by grinding out four straight pars, as he earned runnerup honors among the older guys with a 77.
Michael Dignazio, who graduated from Tower Hill School in the spring, and Brandon Carrigan of Warrington finished two shots behind Parrish in a tie for third place, each registering a 79. Dignazio and Carrigan each had 10 pars on his card.
The trio of Jackson Bodony of Stafford Township, N.J., Lyle Petersen of Media and Jackson Cogan of Medford, N.J. shared fifth place as each recorded an 80.
Alex Topping, a senior on the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy golf team, and Brayden Tritsch, another Medford, N.J. guy, finished in a tie for eighth place as each signed for an 81.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division was the duo of Kieran Gillespie, a junior on the Haverford High golf team, and Kie Shaw of Wilmington, Del. as they finished in a tie for 10th place, each posting an 82.
The leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division was indicative of the kind of competition you routinely find at a Philly Junior Tour stop these days as only six shots separated the top 11 finishers.
The two girls divisions at Indian Spring were limited to 13 holes with the best score emerging from the 13-to-15 division as Emma Liu of Moorestown, N.J. finished with an 18-over 68 to claim a Philly Junior Tour victory.
Muriel Fitz-Kaltenmeier of Glen Mills made a par on the 13th hole, the final hole of her round, as she was the runnerup among the younger girls with a 75.
Rounding out the field in the 13-to-15 division was Catherine Nichols of West Chester as she finished three shots behind Fitz-Kaltenmeier in third place with a 78.
Astor Broering made it a sweep of the two girls divisions for the Moorestown, N.J. contingent as she finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division with a 31-over 81 total.
Lilly Reagan of Philadelphia rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division as she finished in second place with a 95.
Damien Dollard of Cinnaminson, N.J. and Declan Mayo of Chadds Ford finished in a tie atop the leaderboard among the nine-holers, each posting a 9-over 44.
Dollard made three straight pars at the sixth, seventh and eighth holes while Mayo had nine straight bogeys on his scorecard.
Charlie Sears of Wilmington, Del. made a par on the fourth hole as he finished five shots behind Dollard and Mayo in third place with a 49.
Aiden Jose of Brick, N.J. took fourth place with a 50, Zheng Yan of Malvern was fifth with a 52 and Benjamin Lear of West Chester was sixth with a 53.
Antonella Ferrer of Wynnewood rounded out the field in the coed 12-and-under division, finishing in seventh place with a 56.
