Governor Mifflin senior Nate Radwanski put together a solid 1-over-par 71 at Chapel Hill Golf Course, southwest of Reading, to earn a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division Aug. 2nd.
Radwanski, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, got off to a fast start as he had seven of the 11 pars on his scorecard on the outgoing nine at Chapel Hill to go along with birdies at the seventh and ninth holes in a 2-under 34 tour of the front. Radwanski added a third birdie at the 11th hole.
Looks like some weather might have come in late in the day as the older guys were the only ones of those who teed it up in the 18-hole divisions to complete their rounds. Pretty sure the players endured some difficult heat and humidity that day.
Brayden Schnabel, a junior on the Souderton golf team, made a birdie on the fourth hole and had 11 pars on his card, seven of them on Chapel Hill’s front nine, as he finished five shots behind Radwanski in second place with a 6-over 76.
Gabriel Abalos of Washington Township, N.J. made a birdie on the fourth hole and had five pars on his card as he took third place with an 86.
Jackson Shearer of Harrisburg rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division as he finished in fourth place with a 91.
Evan Walters V, a sophomore on the Emmaus golf team, made birdies at the second, fourth, 12th and 14th holes and had nine pars on his card as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division with a 1-over 67 in a round shortened to 17 holes.
Ty Sheftic, a sophomore on the Wissahickon golf team, got hot on the outgoing nine at Chapel Hill with birdies at the fourth, fifth and seventh holes and had eight pars on his card as he finished two shots behind Walters in second place with a 3-over 69. Sheftic toured the front nine in 1-under 35.
Braydon Dolan of Springfield made a birdie on his last hole of the day, the 17th, and had eight pars on his card as he took third place with a 9-over 75.
Gus Wolfe of Downingtown took fourth place with a 79, Neil Ray of West Chester was fifth with an 80 and Dylan Campion of Bala Cynwyd and Bryce Moyer of Bryn Mawr finished in a tie for sixth, each posting an 86.
Lucas Shank of West Chester took eighth place with a 93, Vivaan Tolani of Malvern was ninth with a 99 and Phillip Paoletti of Kennett Square rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as he finished 10th with a 102.
Exeter sophomore Giulia Weisser, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, had the best score among the girls as she posted a 7-over 70 for 16 holes to capture a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division.
Weisser made a birdie at the fourth hole and had seven pars on her scorecard. The girls in both 18-hole divisions had their rounds halted after 16 holes.
Agnes Irwin sophomore Anna Rufo rounded out a short field in the 13-to-15 division as she finished six shots behind Weisser in second place with a 76. Rufo, who finished in a tie for sixth place in the Inter-Ac League Championship in May at French Creek Golf Club and won the junior girls club championship at Philadelphia Country Club this summer, made a birdie at the 14th hole and had five pars on her card.
Emily Stauffer, a junior on the Warwick golf team, had five pars on her scorecard, including a string of four pars in a row from the eighth through the 11th holes, as she earned a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division with an 80 for 16 holes.
Manheim Township sophomore Alana Cristino made pars on the ninth and 11th holes as she rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division by finishing in second place with an 85.
Cristino was a member of a Manheim Township team that was the runnerup in the PIAA Class AAA team competition last fall in the first year there were enough girls to put together a team.
Taimoor Naseem of Sinking Spring bested the field of nine-holers as he made a birdie on the fourth hole and had four pars on his scorecard on his way to a 4-over 40.
John (Jack) Shea of Harleysville made a birdie on the third hole and had four pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Naseem in second place with a 41.
