Adam Cifra of Blue Bell matched par with a 72 at Tanglewood Manor Golf Club in Quarryville, Lancaster County July 25th to claim a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division.
Cifra made birdies at the fifth, ninth, 12th and 15th holes and had 10 pars on his scorecard to earn a one-shot victory over a talented group of players in the younger division.
Henry Sokol of Villanova was right on Cifra’s heels as Sokol made back-to-back birdies at the second and third holes, added birdies at six and 16 and had nine pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Cifra in second place with a 1-over 73.
Harry Neilly, another Villanova guy, was a shot behind Sokol in third place as he also made back-to-back birdies at the second and third holes, added birdies at eight and 18 and had eight pars on his card on his way to a 2-over 74.
Braydon Dolan of Springfield took fourth place with a 76 and the trio of Colin Burke of Wilmington, Del., Tyler Myers of York and William Quartermain of Bryn Mawr finished in a tie for fifth place, each posting a 79.
Quartermain, the younger brother of Riley Quartermain, a scholastic standout at Haverford High who is a member of the women’s golf team at North Carolina, was coming off a victory in the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s Junior-Junior Championship, revived as a stroke-play event, two days earlier at the Moorestown Field Club in Moorestown, N.J.
Pierce Drake of Glenmoore took eighth place with an 80, Frank Kunze of Garnet Valley was ninth with an 84 and Ben Meixell of Wilmington, Del. rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished 10th with an 86.
Alex Topping, a Springside Chestnut Hill Academy senior, made birdies at the second, 10th and 12th holes and had nine pars on his scorecard as he captured a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division with a 4-over 76.
Recent Germantown Academy graduate Ajeet Bagga, Brooks Bernabei, a sophomore at The Hill School from Lancaster, and Council Rock South senior Mason Wiener shared runnerup honors as they finished in a tie for second place, each ending up two shots behind Topping with a 78.
Bagga, one of the top players in the Inter-Ac League throughout his scholastic career with the Patriots, made birdies on the 10th and 12th holes and had eight pars on his card. Bagga will join the program at NYU later this month.
Bernabei made birdies on the second, 10th and 16th holes and had seven pars on his card. Wiener made back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes and had nine pars on his card.
Liam Gallagher of Lansdale took fifth place with an 81 and Ryan Marsh of Coatesville rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as he finished sixth with a 101.
Manheim Township senior Alana Cristino made a birdie on the sixth hole and had five pars on her scorecard as she outlasted recent Conestoga graduate Brynne Mushlin by a shot to claim a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division with an 88.
Mushlin, who helped the Pioneers capture the District One Class AAA team crown last fall, had eight pars on her card as she earned runnerup honors with an 89.
Cristino and Manheim Township finished in second place in the PIAA Class AAA team competition last fall with Mushlin and Conestoga ending up third.
Downingtown West senior Rachel Schuda made a birdie on the fifth hole and had four pars on her card as she finished in third place with a 93. Schuda helped the Whippets capture the Ches-Mont League girls golf team crown last fall.
Emily Stauffer of Lititz finished a shot behind Schuda in fourth place with a 94.
Raegan Young of Middletown was the lone entry in the 13-to-15 division and she had four pars on her card, three of them on the incoming nine at Tanglewood Manor, to claim a Philly Junior Tour victory with a 97.
Theodore Diamond of Lutherville-Timonium, Md. had six pars on his scorecard as he bested the field of nine-holers with a 3-over 39.
Steven Musacchio of Glenmoore had four pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Diamond in second place with a 4-over 4-over 40. Joe Bowers of Lewisburg made a par on the seventh hole as he finished in third place with a 45.
Jonathan Thomas of Landenberg took fourth place with a 48, Connor Masulis of Pottstown was fifth with a 40 and the trio of Michael Perry of Wilmington, Del., Thayer Boyd of Kennett Square and Antonella Ferrer of Wynnewood finished in a tie for sixth place, each signing for a 51.
Zheng Yan of Malvern rounded out the field in the coed 12-and-under division, finishing in ninth place with a 54.
