Tommy Marshall of Marlton, N.J. made an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole on his way to a sizzling 3-under-par 68 at Laurel Creek Country Club in Mount Laurel, N.J. July 23rd that gave him a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division.
In addition to his eagle at the ninth hole, Marshall made birdies at one, 10, 13 and 18 and had 10 pars on his scorecard.
Perkiomen Valley junior Alex Hall, in the midst of a summer hot streak, made birdies on the third, fifth, ninth and 14th holes and had nine pars on his card, six of them on the incoming nine at Laurel Creek, as he earned runnerup honors among the older guys with a 1-over 72.
Hall’s Perkiomen Valley teammate, Andrew Brendlinger, also a junior with the Vikings, finished four shots behind Hall in third place with a 5-over 76 as he made birdies on the ninth, 11th and 15th holes and had eight pars on his card.
Jamie Ciesielka of Woolwich Township, N.J. and Lyle Petersen of Clarksboro, N.J. finished in a tie for fourth place, each recording a 6-over 77 and Ajeet Bagga, who was one of the Inter-Ac League’s top players during his scholastic career at Germantown Academy, and Jackson Cogan of Medford, N.J. shared sixth, each landing on 7-over 78. Bagga will join the program at NYU later this month.
Will Krietsch of Newtown Square took eighth place with a 79 and the trio of Matthew Smith of Hammonton, N.J., Connor Breen of Medford, N.J. and Chase Gillie of Newtown rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as they finished in a tie for ninth, each tallying an 80.
A trio of players, including Tyler Harris of Cinnaminson, N.J., Logan Cassidy of Bensalem and Jaxon Piccoli of Berlin, N.J., finished in a tie atop the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division as each signed for a 3-over 74.
Harris made birdies at the sixth, 13th and 15th holes and had nine pars on his scorecard, six of them while touring the incoming nine at Laurel Creek in 1-under 34.
Cassidy made birdies at the fifth, eighth, ninth and 12th holes and had nine pars on his card. Piccoli made an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole and a birdie at six and had 10 pars on his card, including a run of seven straight pars from 11 through 17 on the back nine at Laurel Creek.
George Fedely of Havertown took fourth place with a solid 4-over 75 and Trebor Melendez, the talented youngster from Vineland, N.J. and Benjamin Robbins of Holland finished in a tie for fifth place, each posting a 5-over 76.
Melendez finished in third place in the Boys 10-11 division in the Drive, Chip & Putt national finals that kicked off Masters week at Augusta National Golf Club in April. Melendez was at his best in the putting portion of the competition as he finished first in the division.
Henry Neilly of Villanova and Judd Fletcher of Moorestown, N.J. shared seventh place, each carding a 77 and Patrick Hiltner of Northfield, N.J. finished ninth with a 79.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division was Wil Simonson of Haddonfield, N.J. as he finished in 10th place with an 80.
The best score among the girls came out of the 13-to-15 division as Masey Heenan of Ocean City, N.J. made a birdie on the 10th hole and a par at 14 to earn a Philly Junior Tour victory with a 99.
Francesca O’Neill of Haddonfield, N.J. rounded out a short field in the 13-to-15 division as she made a par at the 17th hole to take runnerup honors with a 112.
Emily M. Renouf of Cinnaminson, N.J. was the lone entry in the 16-to-18 division and she made a par on the 16th hole while claiming a Philly Junior Tour win with a 116.
Damien Dollard of Cinnaminson, N.J. – big day for the Cinnaminson contingent -- and Edmond Speitel of Haddonfield, N.J. shared the top spot among the nine-holers as each registered a 4-over 40.
Dollard and Speitel both had five pars on his scorecard while claiming a piece of a Philly Junior Tour victory.
Jack Gilbert of Bryn Mawr had four pars on his card as he finished four shots behind Dollard and Speitel in third place with a 44.
Jonathan Thomas of Landenberg took fourth place with a 46 and Matthew Bowman of Newtown and Logan Patullo of Moorestown, N.J. finished in a tie for fifth, each tallying a 48.
Aiden Jose of Brick, N.J. took seventh place with a 49 and Mallie Heenan, another Team Heenan entry out of Ocean City, N.J., was eighth with a 51.
Rounding out the field in the coed 12-and-under division was Emma Cowan of Moorestown, N.J. as she finished in ninth place with a 54.
