Michael Bonczak of Fort Washington made six birdies on his way to a sparkling 2-under-par 68 July 24th at The Bucks Club in Jamison to claim a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division.
Bonczak made three birdies on each side of The Bucks Club layout, on the fourth, fifth and seventh holes on the outgoing nine and at 10, 14 and 16 on the incoming nine. Bonczak also had eight pars on his scorecard and toured the back nine in 2-under 32.
Wissahickon sophomore Ty Sheftic earned runnerup honors with a steady 3-over 73 as he made a birdie on the 14th hole and had 13 pars on his card, including six straight pars from the fifth through the 10th holes.
Avon Grove sophomore Gus Stoltzfus made back-to-back birdies at the third and fourth holes and had nine pars on his card as he finished in third place with a 5-over 75.
Thomas Carpenter of Bristol and Rayan Shah of Newtown shared fourth place, each posting a 77, and Max Davis of Newtown Square finished sixth with a 78.
Springfield sophomore Michael White and Ryan Guenard of Furlong ended up in a tie for seventh place, each tallying an 80 and Jake Patterson of Malvern was ninth with an 82.
Grant MacColl of Haverford rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished in 10th place with an 85.
Drake Brogan of Ocean View, N.J. made birdies on the third, 11th and 18th holes and had 12 pars on his scorecard as he matched par with a 70 to earn a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division.
For the second straight Philly Junior Tour stop, Perkiomen Valley teammates Alex Hall and Andrew Brendlinger, both juniors, finished 2-3, respectively, among the older guys.
Hall had a steady round as he made a birdie on the second hole and had 14 pars on his card, including a run of 11 straight pars from the seventh through the 17th holes.
Brendlinger made birdies on the second and ninth holes and had 11 pars on his card, matching the card on the The Bucks Club’s incoming nine with nine straight pars.
Hall and Brendlinger had finished second and third, respectively, in the 16-to-18 division a day earlier at Laurel Creek Country Club.
Jake Benner of Harleysville took fourth place with a 74 and the trio of Will Krietsch of Newtown Square, Chase Gillie of Newtown and Mitchell Bromberg of Pipersville finished in a tie for fifth place, each landing on 75.
Ethan Cenci of Furlong took eighth place with a 76, Chase Kuech of Hatboro was ninth with a 77 and Scott Twilley, another Pipersville guy, and Zac Devos of Bensalem rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as they finished in a tie for 10th place, each signing for an 81.
Adriana Seravalli, a sophomore at Nazareth Academy from Philadelphia, was the only entry in the girls 13-to-15 division and claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory with an impressive 6-over 76.
Seravalli, who helped Nazareth capture the Catholic League girls golf crown in the Pandas’ first year in the league last fall, opened her round with back-to-back birdies at the first and second holes, added a third birdie at 11 and had nine pars on her scorecard.
Sammi Acuna of Blue Bell was the lone entry in the 16-to-18 division and she made a birdie at the second hole and had three pars on The Bucks Club’s incoming nine on her way to a 99 that gave her a Philly Junior Tour win.
Bobby Stefanski of Newtown Square bested the field of nine-holers for the second time in three days as he made back-to-back birdies at the second and third holes and had three pars on his scorecard on his way to a 3-over 39.
Stefanski had earned a victory two days earlier in a Philly Junior Tour stop at the RiverCrest Golf Club & Preserve.
Jack Kolmer of Wayne and Emilie Davoli of Ambler finished in a tie for second place, ending up two shots behind Stefanski as each recorded a 5-over 41. Kolmer and Davoli each had five pars on their respective cards.
Smith Rawes of Elkins Park took fourth place with a 43, Jack Gilbert of Bryn Mawr was fifth with a 45, Matthew Bowman of Newtown was sixth with a 47 and Aidan Herbert of New Hope was seventh with a 49.
Nolan English of Villanova took eighth place with a 56 and Gabriel Ciocca of Perkasie rounded out the field in the coed 12-and-under division, finishing ninth, a shot behind English with a 57.
