Matthew Kim of Englewood, N.J. blitzed the Bluestone Country Club layout in Whitpain Township with seven birdies as he finished in red figures with a 1-under-par 70 to capture a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division July 31st.
Kim made birdies at the first, fourth, ninth, 11th, and 14th holes before going back-to-back with birdies at 17 and 18 to finish up his round. Kim also had seven pars on his scorecard.
Michael Bonczak of Fort Washington was just a shot behind Kim in second place as he made birdies at the fourth, 12th and 17th holes and had 12 pars on his card while matching par at Bluestone with a 71.
Luka Fediukov of Downingtown and Tyler Baritz of Blue Bell finished in a tie for third place, each posting a 7-over 78.
Fediukov made a birdie at the 16th hole and had 10 pars on his card, including five straight pars from the 11th through the 15th holes. Baritz had a steady round that featured 14 pars as he grinded out six straight pars to finish out.
Adam Cifra, another Blue Bell guy, Chase Andrews of Harleysville and Scott Cunningham of Wayne finished in a tie for fifth place, each recording a 79.
Brooks McCall of Wilmington, Del. and Luke Wilmoth of Dresher shared eighth place, each signing for an 80.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division were Braydon Dolan of Springfield and Henry Sokol of Villanova as they finished in a tie for 10th place, each registering an 81.
Kasim Narinesingh-Smith, who wrapped up his scholastic career at Kennett by making a second straight trip to the PIAA Class AAA Championship at Penn State last fall, made birdies at the first, eighth and 18th holes and had 11 pars on his scorecard as he earned a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division with a 1-over 72.
Perkiomen Valley junior Andrew Brendlinger capped his round with an eagle at the par-5 17th hole as he finished a shot behind Narinesingh-Smith in second place among the older guys with a 2-over 73. Brendlinger had 13 pars on his round, matching the card for Bluestone’s outgoing nine with nine straight pars to open his round.
Haverford High junior Kieran Gillespie and Diego Yanez, an Ambler resident and a senior on the roster for perennial Catholic League power La Salle, shared third place, each posting a solid 3-over 74 to finish a shot behind Brendlinger.
Gillespie made birdies at the fourth and 11th holes and had 11 pars on his card. Yanez made birdies at the first and eighth holes and had 11 pars on his card, opening the back nine at Bluestone with five straight pars from the 10th through the 14th holes.
John Gavaghan of Ambler took fifth place with a 76, Tower Hill School graduate Michael Dignazio was sixth with a 79 and Nathan Frazer of Radnor and Caden Wistreich of Blue Bell finished in a tie for seventh place, each landing on 80.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division were Ian Yoo of Blue Bell and Cody Sutcliffe, a junior on the La Salle golf team and a Plymouth Meeting resident, as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each recording an 82.
Brynne Mushlin, who capped her senior season at Conestoga by helping the Pioneers finish in third place in the PIAA Class AAA team race at Penn State last fall, had nine pars on her scorecard as she claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 16-to-18 division with an 84.
Keira Conner of Ridley Park rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division as she made pars on the third and sixth holes on her way to a 92 that left her in second place.
Rebecca Santoso of Chester Springs was the only entry in the 13-to-15 division and she made pars on the seventh and 16th holes on her way to a 107 that gave her a Philly Junior Tour win.
Preston Minio of Lansdale had six pars on his scorecard as he posted a steady 3-over 39 that bested the field of nine-holers.
Eric Cunningham, another member of Wayne’s Team Cunningham, also had six pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Minio in second place with a 4-over 40.
Ryan Dungan of Warrington made a birdie at the eighth hole and a par at two as he finished in third place with a 43.
Aidan Herbert of New Hope took fourth place with a 47 and Baylor Keim of Blue Bell and Mason Amoki of Ambler finished in a tie for fifth, each recording a 48.
Benjamin Adkins of Lewes, Del. took seventh place with a 53 and Michael Menichello of Harleysville was another shot behind Adkins in eighth with a 54.
Rounding out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under division were Ryan Kaye of Lansdale and Erin Kim of Penn Valley as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each registering a 57.
