The Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour held its first Nine-Hole Series event of the summer Monday at Philadelphia’s Walnut Lane Golf Club and Newtown’s Rayan Shaw, who has been a fixture on the coed 12-and-under division leaderboards all season, had the best score of the day with a 4-over-par 35.
Shah had five pars on his scorecard to finish three shots clear of runnerup William Thorkelson of Bryn Mawr. Thorkelson had three pars on his card on his way to a 38.
Jonathan Thomas of Landenberg had two pars as he finished three shots behind Thorkelson in third place with a 41.
Bryce Moyer of Bryn Mawr ended up a shot behind Thomas in fourth place with a 42 and Grant Cooper of Erdenheim rounded out the field in the coed 12-and-under division, finishing fifth with a 48.
A couple of players from the older boys divisions also teed it up at Walnut Lane.
Sean Allen Jr. of Philadelphia, competing in the 16-and-18 under division, recorded an 11-over 42 and Brayden Holland of Haverford, competing in the 13-to-15 division, registered a 51.
