Perkiomen Valley senior Ayush Patel and Andrew Elliott of Souderton each carded a 1-over-par 71 to share the top spot in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Skippack Golf Club on a typically hot July Wednesday.
Patel made birdies on the sixth and 14th holes and had 13 pars on his scorecard to get his share of the Philly Junior Tour victory. Elliott made birdies on the 10th, 12th and 16th holes and had 11 pars on his card, touring the incoming nine at the par-70 Skippack layout in 2-under 33.
Recent Christopher Dock graduate Tyler Derstein jump-started his round with an eagle at the par-5 fourth hole, added a birdie at nine and had 11 pars on his card as he claimed third place with a 2-over 72.
Unionville senior Rex Opdahl and Landon Fox of Wilmington, Del. finished in a tie for fourth place, each posting a 3-over 73, and Boyertown junior Chase Dillman took sixth with a 74.
Jake Lairdieson of Newtown Square and Nicholas Heckman of Lincoln University shared seventh place, each recording a 76 and Liam Gamble of Line Lexington was ninth with a 78.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division were Radnor junior Michael Slinkard and Christian Kay of Eagleville as they finished in a tie for 10th place, each registering a 79.
Lucas Koazak of Phoenixville made back-to-back birdies at the 10th and 11th holes and had 11 pars on his scorecard, including five straight to finish his round, as he captured a Philly Junior Tour victory with a 3-over 73 that left him atop the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division.
Luke LaScala of Wilmington, Del. was the runnerup in the division as he made a birdie on the fourth hole and had 12 pars on his card, including seven straight to complete his round, on his way to a 4-over 74.
Brody Calle of Spring City, Michael Green of Penllyn and Alexander Hall of Schwenksville finished in a tie for third place, each landing on 77.
Calle had back-to-back birdies at the fourth and fifth holes and had nine pars on his card, Green made birdies on the second and 14th holes and had eight pars on his card, touring the incoming nine at Skippack in even-par 35. Hall made birdies at the 14th and 16th holes and had eight pars on his card.
Jack Luterman of Ardmore finished alone in sixth place with a 78 and William Shuford of Wayne was another shot behind Luterman in seventh with a 79.
Avery O’Neill of Romansville and Max Leung of Villanova finished in a tie for eighth place, each recording an 80.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division were Evan Walters V of Emmaus and Thomas Cronan of Penn Valley as they finished in a tie for 10th place, each posting an 81.
Recent Spring-Ford graduate Nicole Yun matched the low overall round of the day as she finished at the top of the leaderboard in the girls 16-to-18 division with a sparkling 1-over 71.
Yun made birdies on the second, fourth, 12th and 16th holes and had nine pars on her scorecard.
It was a strong showing for runnerup Cierra Griffith of Pottstown as she made birdies on the second, fourth and 18th holes and had five pars on her card while posting a 79.
Downingtown West junior Rachel Schuda rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as she had four pars on her card on her way to a 102 that left her in third place.
Saloni Patel of Collegeville’s Team Patel claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division as she had nine pars on her scorecard while carding an 83.
Anna Firko of Wilmington, Del. finished a shot behind Saloni Patel in second place as she made birdies on the fourth and 14th holes and had six pars on her card on her way to an 84.
Corinne McReynolds of Wayne made a birdie on the fourth hole and had six pars on her card as she finished in third place with a 91.
Rounding out the field in the 13-to-15 division was Eliza Meersman of Fort Washington as she finished in fourth place with a 95.
Rayan Shah of Newtown, Henry Mysliwiec of Doylestown and Logan Turner of Berwyn shared top honors among the nine-holers as each recorded a solid 3-over 38.
Shah, who has been a fixture on the coed 12-and-under division leaderboards this season, made an eagle on the par-5 second hole, added a birdie at four and had two pars on his scorecard.
Mysliewiec made birdies at the fourth and ninth holes and had two pars on his card and Turner made a birdie at the second hole and had four pars on his card.
Team Sokol of Villanova, Jack Sokol and Henry Sokol, accounted for the tie for fourth place as they each carded a 4-over 39 that left them just a shot out of the three-way logjam at the top of the leaderboard.
The Sokol brothers recently teamed up to finish in third place in the Junior-Junior division in the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s Francis X. Hussey Memorial at Rolling Green Golf Club.
Ethan Meersman of Fort Washington’s Team Meersman finished alone in sixth place with a 40.
Nathan Lobo of Collegeville and Preston Minio of Lansdale finished in a tie for seventh place, each registering a 41.
Rounding out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under division were William Thorkelson of Bryn Mawr and Bobby Stefanski of Newtown Square as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each carding a 42.
That left 10 players in a very competitive division separated by just four shots.
