Ethan Legarda of Voorhees, N.J. was able to withstand the heat and humidity Wednesday to put together a 3-over-par 74 at Medford Lakes Country Club in Medford, N.J. and claim a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory.
After making a birdie on the ninth hole, Legarda was rock solid the rest of the way, recording eight of the 13 pars on his scorecard on the incoming nine at the par-71 Medford Lakes layout to finish at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division for his first Philly Junior Tour victory of the 2023 season.
Brayden Tritsch, playing closed to his Medford, N.J. home, made a birdie on the 16th hole and had nine pars on his card to claim runnerup honors among the older guys with a 79.
Alex Topping of Philadelphia and Justin Forman of Sewell, N.J. finished in a tie for third place, each ending up a shot behind Tritsch with an 80.
Topping made three birdies on the front nine at the second, eighth and ninth holes and had seven pars on his card. Forman finished up his round with a birdie at the 18th hole and had nine pars on his card.
Campbell Swart of Southampton, N.J. took fifth place with an 81, Charlie Mertz of Reading was sixth with an 82, Alex Zeck of Hammonton, N.J. was seventh with an 83 and Ethan Barroway of Cherry Hill, N.J. was eighth with an 84.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division were Gavin McCloskey of Williamstown, N.J. and Danny Peyre-Ferry of Marlton, N.J. as they shared ninth place, each landing on 86.
Patrick Hiltner of Northfield, N.J. made a birdie on the 12th hole and had 12 pars on his scorecard as he earned a Philly Junior Tour victory, his first of the season, in the 13-to-15 division with a 4-over 75.
Daniel Herzchel of Linwood, N.J. had 13 pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with a 78.
Trevor Sieben, another guy playing close to his Medford, N.J. home, had 10 pars on his card as he finished in third place, four shots behind Herzchel with an 82.
Drake Brogan of Ocean View, N.J. and Thomas Carpenter of Bristol shared fourth place, each recording an 84, Judd Fletcher of Moorestown, N.J. was sixth with an 85 and Landon Finsen of Westampton, N.J. was seventh with an 89.
Christopher Everly of Atglen and Noah Tyler of Columbus, N.J. ended up in a tie for eighth place, each registering a 90 and Quinn Gallagher of Bryn Mawr rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished alone in 10th place with a 92.
Macai Klein of Moorestown, N.J. had five pars on her scorecard as she captured a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 13-to-15 division with a 91. It was Klein’s first win of the season.
Amita Oberoi of Cherry Hill, N.J. was the only other girl to tee it up in the girls divisions and she was the runnerup to Klein in the 13-to-15 division with a 101.
Lucas Solano of Vineland, N.J. bested the field of nine-holers for his second win of the season with a 3-over 38 as he made a birdie on the third hole and had four pars on his scorecard.
Rayan Shah of Newtown continued his recent roll as he earned runnerup honors by making five pars on his way to a 40. Shah was coming off Philly Junior Tour victories last week at Pennsauken Country Club and at Coatesville Country Club.
Preston Minio of Lansdale had three pars on his card as he finished in third place with a 43.
Nathan Lavin of Burlington, N.J. took fourth place with a 44, Jason Leekley of Moorestown, N.J. was fifth with a 46 and David Gilman of Cape May Court House, N.J. was sixth with a 48.
Rounding out the field in the coed 12-and-under division were Chase Paxton of Wildwood, N.J. and Kunal Khandhar of Moorestown, N.J. as they finished in a tie for seventh place, each posting a 56.
