Sass heats up on back nine at Kimberton on his way to a Junior Tour victory

Frankie Sass, a recent West Chester East graduate, ripped off three straight birdies on the back nine at Kimberton Golf Club on a blazing hot Aug. 4th to claim a one-shot victory in the 16-to-18 division with an even-par 70 in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop.

Kimberton, in East Vincent Township just outside Phoenixville, has always been a popular stop on the Philly Junior Tour circuit and this year was no exception.

Sass made birdies at the eighth and 10th holes and then came the three in a row at 15, 16 and 17 as he closed with a 2-under 34 on Kimberton’s incoming nine. Sass also had eight pars on his scorecard.

Jake Micewski, a recent Marple Newtown graduate, was even hotter on the back nine at Kimberton with a 3-under 33 as he earned runnerup honors with a 1-over 71, just a shot behind Sass.
