Ferrise gets it going at Philmont to claim a Junior Tour victory

    Spring-Ford junior Charlie Ferrise put together a solid 4-over-par 74 to finish at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Philmont Country Club in Huntingdon Valley Aug. 16th.

   Ferrise made birdies at the fourth, ninth, 12th and 13th holes and had seven pars on his scorecard to post the best score of the day among the guys.

   Jeremiah Brown of Audubon was right on Ferrise’s heels as he made birdies on the fourth and eighth holes and had nine pars on his card, six of them on Philmont’s incoming nine, to finish a shot behind Ferrise in second place with a 5-over 75.

   Harriton senior Cyrus Parvizi was another shot behind Brown in third place with a 6-over 76 that featured 12 pars.

   Radnor junior Shaun Mazzalupi, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, took fourth place with a 77, Lucas Steinmetz, a senior at The Hill School, was fifth with an 80 and James Castronuovo was sixth with an 82.

   Patrick O’Hara and Carter Radomicki finished in a tie for seventh place, each signing for an 84 and Owen Wisner was ninth with an 85.

   Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division was Manraj Grewal, who finished alone in 10th place with an 86.

   Luke Tappeiner of Northfield, N.J. made a birdie on the 11th hole and had eight pars on his scorecard as he claimed a victory in the 13-to-15 division with an 81.

   Mac Traynor of Villanova had a steady round as he had 10 pars on his card to earn runnerup honors with an 82, a shot behind Tappeiner. P.J. Foley, another Northfield, N.J. guy, made a birdie on the 12th hole and had six pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Traynor in third place with an 83.

   Harrison Brown took fourth place with an 84, Lucas Albert was fifth with an 85, Matthew Duphorn was sixth with an 86 and Jin Sun was seventh with an 89.

   Ian Yoo and Wills Kaiser shared eighth place, each signing for a 90. Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division was Vaughn Soltys, who finished alone in 10th place with a 91.

   Katherine Liu of Moorestown, N.J. continued her strong run of recent play as she made an eagle at the par-5 12th hole and had five pars on her scorecard on her way to a first-place finish in the 13-to-15 division with an 83, the best round of the day among the girls who teed it up at Philmont.

   Katherine Lee had a par on the eighth hole as she was the runnerup to Liu among the younger girls with a 98. Rounding out the field in the 13-to-15 division was Kasey O’Brien as she finished in third place with a 115.

   Sehyr Singh was the lone entry in the 16-to-18 division and she finished up with a par on the 18th hole to post a 112.

   Dane Mohap of Nazareth continued his summer-long roll as he made birdies on the second and eighth holes and had three pars on his scorecard to best the field of nine-holers with a 5-over 40.

   Judd Fletcher of Moorestown, N.J. made a birdie at the eighth hole and had three pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with a 6-over 41. Henry Sokol of Villanova also made birdie on the eighth hole and registered a par at four as he took third place with a 42.

   Carter Hippauf of Quakertown took fourth place with a 44 and Preston Minio and Sebastian Meyer shared fifth place, each signing for a 46.

   Tyler Myers finished alone in seventh place with a 48 and Sebastian Park and William Thorkelson finished in a tie for eighth, each posting a 49.

   Rounding out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under division were Rayan Shah and Thomas Carpenter as each carded a 50 to finish in a tie for 10th place.
