Rex Zdancewicz of Berwyn carded a solid 8-over-par 79 at Coatesville Country Club Thursday to capture a victory in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour event.
Zdancewicz birdied the 11th hole and had eight pars, including five straight from six through 10, on his way to the win. Wilhelm Aprahamian of West Chester had seven pars as he earned runnerup honors with an 83.
Caleb Cavazos of Havertown and Nathan Jones of Wayne shared third place, each landing on 85, two shots behind Aprahamian. Cavazos had seven pars, including four straight to conclude his round. Jones finished up with a birdie at Coatesville’s 18th hole and also had seven pars on his scorecard.
Jacob Littleton of Williamstown, N.J. took fifth place with a 103 and Nathan Sauder of Pittgrove, N.J. rounded out the 16-to-18 division field as he finished sixth with a 108.
Sean Curran of Newtown Square had the second-best score of the day among the guys, posting an 80 to finish atop the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division. Curran, the runnerup for the second time in three years in last month’s Golf Association of Philadelphia Junior-Junior Championship at the Moorestown Field Club, made birdies at the seventh and 18th holes and had seven pars on his scorecard.
Liam McFadden of Bryn Mawr was the runnerup among the younger guys as he finished a shot behind Curran with an 81 that featured birdies at the ninth and 11th holes and seven pars.
Jax Puskar of Kennett Square and Lannon Boyd of Radnor shared third place, each posting a 90. Puskar had four pars, including three straight from the 14th through the 16th holes. Boyd had three pars on his card.
Michael Ciarmoli of Newtown Square and Christopher Mark Parrish of Woolwich Township, N.J. finished in a tie for fifth place, each carding a 97.
Duke Zdancewicz of Berwyn’s Team Zdancewicz took seventh place with a 101 and Trey Barkmann of West Chester rounded out the 13-to-15 division field as he signed for a 105 to finish eighth.
The best score among the girls came out of the 13-to-15 division as Mina Benedetto of West Chester as she had five pars on her scorecard on her way to a 90 that gave her a Junior Tour victory.
Ananda Leahy of Gladwyne made a birdie on the 11th hole as she earned runnerup honors with a 96. Julia Hashem, playing close to her Coatesville home, had a par on the fourth hole as she rounded out the field of younger girls with a 98 that enabled her to finish in third place.
Suzie Ahn of Paoli had four pars, two on each side, as she claimed a victory in the 16-to-18 division with a 94. Kayla Brosius of Magnolia, Del. rounded out a short field of older girls as she made a par on the 16th hole on her way to a 100 that earned her runnerup honors.
Anthony Proud of Stroudsburg started his round with a bang, an eagle on the par-5 opener at Coatesville, as he bested the field of nine-holers with an even-par 35. Proud, who has been solid all spring and summer, had seven pars on his scoreboard, including four straight to close out his round.
Lawson Leeper of York opened his round with five straight pars and finished with six pars overall as he was the runnerup with a 3-over 38. Carter Hippauf of Quakertown had five pars on his card as he finished two shots behind Leeper in third place with a 5-over 40.
Henry Kessler of Blue Bell took fourth place with a 42 and Vyom Shukla of Berwyn and Katherine Liu of Moorestown, N.J. shared fifth, each registering a 43. Gus Stoltzfus of Lincoln University and Milo McGinty of Lititz finished in a tie for seventh place, each signing for a 44.
Rounding out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under division were Ian Rotto of Kennett Square and Henry Sokol of Villanova as they shared ninth place, each landing on 45.
