Joseph Fargnoli of Mickleton, N.J. overcame the heat and humidity Wednesday to post a solid 2-over-par 74 at Medford Village Country Club and finish atop the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division as he claimed his first Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory of the season.
Fargnoli’s 2-under 34 tour of Medford Village’s front nine included birdies at the third and fifth holes and seven pars. He added a birdie at the 14th hole on his way to the victory.
Jack Orr, playing close to his Medford, N.J. home, made birdies at the second and fifth holes and had eight pars on his scorecard as he earned runnerup honors with an 8-over 80, six shots behind Fargnoli.
Joshua Murphy of Newtown Square and Kevin Hochenberger of Stockton, N.J. finished in a tie for third place, each registering an 86. Murphy had eight pars on his card and Hochenberg had seven pars, six of them on Medford Village’s incoming nine.
Joe Ritchie, another Medford, N.J. guy, finished alone in fifth place with an 88. Another Medford, N.J. entry, Matthew Adler, and Luke Turse of Hainesport, N.J. shared sixth place, each signing for an 89.
Nathan Sauder of Pittsgrove, N.J. rounded out the 16-to-18 division field as he carded a 90 to finish alone in eighth place.
Tommy Marshall of Marlton, N.J. made birdies at the 12th and 14th holes on his way to a 7-over 79 that gave him his second win of the season in the 13-to-15 division. Marshall also had 10 pars on his scorecard, including five straight from the third through the seventh holes.
Michael Dignazio of Wilmington, Del. had nine pars on his card as he claimed runnerup honors with an 84. Chase Gillie of Newtown had six pars as he finished a shot behind Dignazio in third place with an 85.
Zachary Freed of Linwood, N.J. and Justin Forman of Sewell, N.J. finished a shot behind Gillie in a tie for fourth place, each signing for an 86. Sam Narducci of Haddonfield, N.J. finished alone in sixth place with an 89.
Seiji Sako of Wynnewood and Nathan Bove of Hainesport, N.J. ended up in a tie for seventh place, each registering a 92.
Sebastian Furfaro of Mickleton, N.J. took ninth place with a 94 and Lucas Zhang of Yardley rounded out the top 10 among the younger guys as he finished alone in 10th with a 95.
The best score among the girls emerged from the 13-to-15 division as Meredith Finger of Wilmington, Del. birdied the fifth hole and had eight pars on her scorecard, earning the win with an 83.
Lauren Patullo of Moorestown, N.J. rounded out the field of younger girls as she was the runnerup with a 93 that featured a birdie at the first hole, the 10th hole of her round, and four pars.
Sophia Chesner of Moorestown, N.J. birdied the 444-yard, par-5 fifth hole and had three pars on her card as she claimed a victory in the 16-to-18 division with a 94.
Ella Miller of Lumberton, N.J. had three pars as she earned runnerup honors, just a shot behind Chesner with a 95. Grace Klements of Little Egg Harbor, N.J. birdied the 17th hole as she took third place with a 99.
Maria Ramos of Philadelphia rounded out the field of older girls as she finished alone in fifth place with a 128.
Anthony Primo of Marlton, N.J. and Henry Belcher of Villanova shared top honors among the nine-holers as each signed for a solid 3-over 39. After opening with three straight bogeys, Primo rattled off six straight pars. Belcher made a birdie at the fifth hole and had five pars on his scorecard.
Anthony Proud of Stroudsburg had six pars, including four straight to close out his round, as he finished alone in third place, just a shot behind the top two with a 4-over 40.
Tyler Whitney of Cherry Hill, N.J. took fourth place with a 41, Jackson Lane of Cinnaminson, N.J. was fifth with a 42 and Onyu Park of Blue was sixth with a 46.
Rayan Shah of Newtown, Katherine Liu of Moorestown, N.J. and Quin Zeigner of New Hope shared seventh place, each landing on 48. Jacob Shachar of Sewell, N.J. rounded out the top 10 in the coed 12-abnd-under division as he finished alone in 10th place with a 49.
