Thompson captures a Junior Tour victory with a 75 at Ramblewood

Carson Thompson, playing close to his Mount Laurel, N.J. home, carded a solid 3-over-par 75 at Ramblewood Country Club to claim a victory in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour event in chilly and rainy conditions Thursday

Thompson made birdies at the second, sixth and 16th holes and had 10 pars on his scorecard to earn a one-shot victory.

Charlie Kerprich of Dresher and Kian Canelas of Moorestown, N.J. shared runnerup honors, each posting a 4-over 76. Kerprich, coming off a share of first place in Tuesday’s Philly Junior Tour stop at Raven’s Claw Golf Club, had a steady round that featured 14 pars. Canelas also had 14 pars, including a run of seven in a row from the sixth through the 12th holes.

Charles Ota of Blue Bell took fourth place with a 77, Luke Turse of Hainesport, N.J., coming off a victory Wednesday in a Philly Junior Tour stop at Running Deer Golf Club, was fifth with a 78 and Stephen Cain of Yardley and Joseph Fargnoli of Mickleton, N.J. finished in a tie for sixth place, each signing for an 82.

Evan Goldberg of Linwood, N.J. finished in eighth place with an 83, Nathan Sauder of Pittsgrove, N.J. was ninth with an 85 and Jacob Littleton of Williamstown, N.J. rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division, ending up alone in 10th place with a 90.

Aidan Farkas of Ardmore and Matthew Morris of Haddonfield, N.J. matched Thompson’s 3-over 75 to share top honors in the 13-to-15 division. Farkas made an eagle on the par-5 13th hole, had birdies at two and six and eight pars in his round. Morris made birdies at the first, fourth and 13th holes and had nine pars on his scorecard, seven of which came on the outgoing nine at Ramblewood as Morris went out in 2-under 34.

Conestoga junior Sachin Blake, Kasim Narinesingh-Smith of Kennett Square and Jackson Fryer of Ambler finished in a tie for third place, each landing on 76. Blake birdied the third hole and had 12 pars on his scorecard, eight of them on Ramblewood’s incoming nine. Narinesingh-Smith made birdies at the fourth and sixth holes and had 10 pars on his card. Fryer birdied the third hole and had 12 pars, seven of them on the front nine as he went out in even-par 36.

Sam Narducci of Haddonfield, N.J. finished alone in sixth place with a 79. Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division were four players – Jamie Ciesielka of Woolwich Township, N.J., Zachary Antao of Wilmington, Del., Andrew Ekstrom of York and Manraj Grewel of Newtown – who finished in a tie for seventh place as each posted an 81.

The best score among the girls came from Hannah Puc of Marlton, N.J. who was the lone entry in the 13-to-15 division and posted a 90. Puc, coming off a Philly Junior Tour victory earlier in the week at Running Deer, had six pars, three on each side.
