Jack Novis of Lancaster carded a solid 3-over-par 74 to earn a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division in a stop at Bent Creek Country Club Monday in Lititz.
Novis made birdies at the ninth and 12th holes and had 11 pars on his scorecard, including a run of five straight pars from three through seven on the outgoing nine at Bent Creek.
Jack Bulman of Pottstown birdied the 13th hole and had 11 pars on his card as he claimed runnerup honors with a 78, four shots behind Novis. Spring-Ford junior Luke Fazio made a birdie on the 17th hole and had 10 pars as he finished a shot behind Bulman in third place with a 79.
Kyle Langan of Shavertown took fourth place, Ben Bodie of Newtown Square was fifth with an 81 and Jaden Minter of Royersford, Trey Rios of Denver and Dylan Poallucci of Hanover finished in a tie for sixth, each signing for an 82.
Brant Bomberger, playing close to his Lititz home, finished in ninth place with an 83 and Tyler Swartz of Hummelstown and Ben Freeman of Lebanon rounded out the top 10 among the older guys as each registered an 84 to end up in a tie for 10th.
Alec Thiele of Philadelphia made his road trip to Lancaster County worthwhile as he made birdies at the eighth and 10th holes and had nine pars on his scorecard as he claimed a victory in the 13-to-15 division with a 6-over 77.
Andrew Bilson, playing close to his home in Lititz, made birdies at the fifth, ninth and 12th holes and had seven pars on his card as he took second place with a 79, two shots behind Thiele. Shaun Mazzalupi of Wayne made a birdie at the fifth hole and had eight pars as he finished two shots behind Bilson in third place with an 81.
Alistair Demko of Hershey took fourth place with an 83, Owen Wise of Downingtown was fifth with an 84, Lucas Kozak of Phoenixville was sixth with an 89 and Sean Kelly of Palmyra was seventh with a 90.
Three players – Grayson Wingarter of Villanova, Tryce Dendler of Yardley and J.P. Hoban of Havertown -- rounded out the top 10 among the younger guys as each posted a 91 to finish in a tie for eighth place.
The best score among the girls came from the lone entry in the 16-to-18 division as Kayla Brosius of Magnolia, Del. had seven pars, including five straight to begin her round, on her way to an 89.
Makayla Stone of Garnet Valley had four pars, two on each side, as she finished atop the leaderboard in the 13-to-115 division with a 97. Hannah Kopac of State College had three pars as she earned runnerup honors with a 99.
Ananda Leahy of Gladwyne took third place with a 109, Cloe Wright of Jackson, N.J. was fourth with a 113 and Julia Hashem of Coatesville rounded out the 13-to-15 division field with a 135 that left her in fifth place.
Miles McGinty had another strong showing from a local Lititz player as he made birdies at two of the par-3s on Bent Creek’s front nine at the third and sixth holes and had three pars on his scorecard to best the field of nine-holers with a 5-over 40.
Onyu Park of Blue Bell made back-to-back pars on the sixth and seventh holes, Benjamin Robbins of Holland also went back-to-back with pars at six and seven and added another par and Sarah Stumacher of Gladwyne also had three pars as they shared second place, each signing for a 44.
Gavin Kozak of Phoenixville took fifth place with a 46, Tyler Myers of York was sixth with a 48 and Eliza Meersman of Fort Washington and Joey Joy of Cherry Hill, N.J. finished in a tie for seventh, each carding a 49.
Chandler Mason of Newtown Square took ninth place with a 51, Tara Griscavage of Mechanicsburg was 10th with a 52, Preston Minio of Lansdale was 11th with a 53 and Ethan Meersman of Fort Washington’s Team Meersman rounded out the coed 12-and-under field, landing in 12th place with a 54.
The Philly Junior Tour had college men’s and women’s divisions at Bent Creek and Matthew Tressler of Clarks Green and Gillyoung Koh of Broomall took advantage of the opportunity in the respective men’s 17-to-24 and women’s 17-to-24 divisions.
Tressler made birdies at the 12th and 18th holes and had eight pars on his scorecard on his way to a solid 83. Koh made a birdie on the 14th hole and had five pars on her card as she registered a 90.
