Cole Shew of West Chester birdied the par-5 fourth hole on
his way to a 3-over-par 73 to claim top honors in the 16-to-18 division in a
Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Chapel Hill Golf Course southwest
of Reading as our run of summerlike weather in October continued Saturday.
Shew finished three shots ahead of Matthew Festa of Ambler,
who carded a 6-over 76 over the 6,056-yard, par-70 Chapel Hill layout, to take
runnerup honors.
Matthew Lafond of Blue Bell finished third with an 80, Evan
Drummond of Exton was fourth with an 81, Shant Amerkanian of Cresskill, N.J.
was fifth with an 82 and William Tone of Moorestown, N.J. was sixth with a 84.
Nathan Pierce of Limerick and Will Hage of Phoenixville
shared seventh place, each posting an 86. Jackson Stinebaugh of New York, N.Y.
finished ninth with a 92 and Ryan Festa gave the Festas of Ambler two finishers
in the top 10 as he took 10th with a 105.
Connor Gherghel of Orwigsburg had two birdies, one on each
side, to finish atop the 13-to-15 division with a 77. Jake Shmonov of
Harrisburg was the runnerup with an 80.
Darren Nolan of Glenside finished third with an 85, Benjamin
Saggers of West Chester was fourth with an 89, Kevin Lafond of Blue Bell was
fifth with a 91 and Stephane de Brechard of Brooklyn was sixth with a 93.
Jackson Reid of Bryn Mawr finished seventh with a 94,
Dimitri Collins of King of Prussia was eighth with a 98, Evan Jozwiak of
Sinking Spring and Clay Breidenstine of Hummelstown shared ninth place at 104
and Jacob Scheck of Garnet Valley was 11th at 108.
Sydney Yermish of Wynnewood birdied the par-4 12th
hole on her way to an 85 that gave her a victory in the girls 13-to-15
division. Yermish has been competing in the 13-to-15 division and with the
nine-holers this fall and has been a contender in both divisions.
Kayla Maletto of Sinking Spring was the runnerup with an 89.
Nicholas Gross of Downingtown birdied the par-3 13th
on his way to a 3-over 37 that gave him the top spot among the nine-holers.
Gross has been a frequent visitor to the nine-hole division leaderboard all
year long.
Julien de Brechard of the Brooklyn de Brechards was the
runnerup with a 44 and Stefania Fedun of Glenmoore was third with a 46.
