Shew fires 3-over 73 at Chapel Hill to claim a Junior Tour victory

Cole Shew of West Chester birdied the par-5 fourth hole on his way to a 3-over-par 73 to claim top honors in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Chapel Hill Golf Course southwest of Reading as our run of summerlike weather in October continued Saturday.
Shew finished three shots ahead of Matthew Festa of Ambler, who carded a 6-over 76 over the 6,056-yard, par-70 Chapel Hill layout, to take runnerup honors.
Matthew Lafond of Blue Bell finished third with an 80, Evan Drummond of Exton was fourth with an 81, Shant Amerkanian of Cresskill, N.J. was fifth with an 82 and William Tone of Moorestown, N.J. was sixth with a 84.
Nathan Pierce of Limerick and Will Hage of Phoenixville shared seventh place, each posting an 86. Jackson Stinebaugh of New York, N.Y. finished ninth with a 92 and Ryan Festa gave the Festas of Ambler two finishers in the top 10 as he took 10th with a 105.
Connor Gherghel of Orwigsburg had two birdies, one on each side, to finish atop the 13-to-15 division with a 77. Jake Shmonov of Harrisburg was the runnerup with an 80.
Darren Nolan of Glenside finished third with an 85, Benjamin Saggers of West Chester was fourth with an 89, Kevin Lafond of Blue Bell was fifth with a 91 and Stephane de Brechard of Brooklyn was sixth with a 93.

Sydney Yermish of Wynnewood birdied the par-4 12th hole on her way to an 85 that gave her a victory in the girls 13-to-15 division. Yermish has been competing in the 13-to-15 division and with the nine-holers this fall and has been a contender in both divisions.
Kayla Maletto of Sinking Spring was the runnerup with an 89.
Nicholas Gross of Downingtown birdied the par-3 13th on his way to a 3-over 37 that gave him the top spot among the nine-holers. Gross has been a frequent visitor to the nine-hole division leaderboard all year long.
