Forssell claims Junior Tour victory with 82 at Middletown



   Oliver Forssell of Villanova birdied the ninth hole on his way to an 82 that gave him the top spot in the 13-to-15 division as the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour made its second stop of the year at Middletown Country Club in Langhorne Sunday.
   Four players finished four shots behind Forssell at 86 over the 6,141-yard, par-70 Middletown layout with Darren Nolan of Glenside claiming runnerup honors, his back-nine 39 giving him the edge in the scorecard playoff. Also at 86 were Garnet Valley sophomore Jacob Sokalsky, Luke Marvin of Ambler and Kevin Deng of Devon.
   Christopher Myers of Yardley finish sixth with an 88, Jack Romeo of Ambler was seventh with an 89 and Leo Brunk of Newtown and Tyler Schmidt of Langhorne shared eighth place at 90.
   Kyle Schlegel of Newtown finished 10th with a 92, Stephen Cain of Yardley was 11th with a 95, Luke Corcoran of Lansdale was 12th with a 96 and Joseph Fargnoli of Laurel Springs, N.J. was 13th with a 117.
   The brothers Asadoorian of Richboro, Simon and younger brother Mason, finished 1-2 in the 16-to-18 division. Simon Asadoorian carded an 88 for his first Junior Tour victory of the wraparound 2017-’18 season. Mason Asadoorian was the runnerup with a 91.
   Christopher Bannon of Philadelphia finished third with a 82, Patrick Monaghan of Langhorne was fourth with a 93 and Brady Ross of Feasterville was fifth with a 98.
   Elizabeth McCloskey of Princeton Junction, N.J. posted a 93 to finish atop the girls 16-to-18 field for her third Junior Tour victory this year. Maya Torpey of Malvern was the runnerup with a 97 and Sanjana Chopra of Princeton, N.J. was third with a 117.
   Ava O’Sullivan of Exton was the only girl to tee it up in the 13-to-15 division, so her 96 gave her the victory. O’Sullivan played 8-over-par golf on the front nine at Middletown.
   Ethan Martin of North Wales birdied the dangerous par-3 sixth over the water on his way to a 9-over 44 that gave him the top spot among the nine-holers.
   J.P. Hoban of Havertown was the runnerup with a 46, Amit Limaye of Short Hills, N.J. took third with a 54 and Sammi Yeselavage of Doylestown was fourth with a 56.
