Jack Ferm, a junior on the Garnet Valley golf team, carded a solid 5-over-par 76 at Berkshire Country Club in Reading to capture a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division Monday.
Looks like the older guys were the only ones who got in 18 holes as, I’m guessing, some stormy weather descended on Berks County. There was a pretty big field at Berkshire, even with another Philly Junior Tour event going on Monday at Newark Country Club in Newark, Del.
Ferm made birdies at the 12th and 18th holes and had 10 pars on his scorecard, including a string of six straight pars from the fifth through the 10th holes.
Nathan Gablirsch of Hammonton, N.J. and Everett Harrold, a junior on the Central York golf team, shared runnerup honors as each finished two shots behind Ferm with a 7-over 78.
Gablirsch made birdies at the first, fourth and 10th holes and had eight pars on his card. Harrold made a birdie on the 17th hole and had 10 pars on his card.
James Sias, a senior on the Boiling Springs golf team, took fourth place as he finished a shot behind Gablirsch and Harrold with a 79 and Aiden French, a senior on the Red Land golf team and a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, and Dominic Mendez, a senior on the Downingtown West golf team, finished in a tie for fifth place, each posting an 82.
Brody Calle, a senior on the Owen J. Roberts golf team, Niko Walker, a junior on the Dallastown golf team, and Vyom Shakula of Berwyn finished in a tie for seventh place, each signing for an 83.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division was the trio of Gavin Reinert, a senior on the Central Bucks East golf team, Luke Fallon, a sophomore on the Wilson golf team, and Joey Bilotta, a senior on the Boyertown golf team, as they finished in a tie for 10th place, each tallying an 84.
Sebastian Leone of Wayne made birdies at the 14th and first holes and had six pars on his scorecard as he finished at top of the leaderboard in a 13-to-15 division that was called after 12 holes due to weather with a 2-over 50.
The 13-to-15 guys started off the 10th tee and play was halted after everybody completed the third hole, making for a 12-hole round.
Bryce Bussom of Lewisburg and Alex DiGiacinto, a sophomore on the Nazareth golf team, shared second place as each recorded a 3-over 51.
Bussom made a birdie on the 12th hole and had eight pars on his card, including a run of seven straight pars from 14 through two.
DiGiacinto got it going on Berkshire’s incoming nine with birdies at the 11th, 16th and 17th holes and had five pars on his card.
The trio of Quinten Joiner of Millington, Md., Jake Rapp, a sophomore on the Parkland golf team, and Mason Kim of Blue Bell finished in a tie for fourth place, each landing on 54.
Ethan Lang of Harleysville and Landon Chandler of Lancaster shared ninth place, each tallying a 56 and Tucker Detwiler, an incoming freshman at Malvern Prep and a West Chester resident, rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished 10th with a 57.
Exeter junior Giulia Weisser, who has qualified for the PIAA Class AAA Championship in each of her first two high school seasons, made birdies at the 10th and 15th holes and had eight pars on her scorecard as she claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 16-to-18 division by matching par for 12 holes with a 50.
Alexis Miller, a junior on the Southern Lehigh golf team, rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division as she made birdies at the 10th and 17th holes and had four pars on her card on her way to a 61 that left her in second place.
Alexa Shure, a sophomore on the Great Valley golf team, had three pars on her scorecard as she finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division with a 61.
Addison Murphy of Phoenixville made a birdie on the 10th hole and a par at 16 as she earned runnerup honors with a 69.
Olivia Kirmayer of Downingtown rounded out a short field in the 13-to-15 division as she had two pars on her card to finish in third place with a 74.
Niko Muego of Bryn Mawr had seven pars on his scorecard, finishing up his round with five straight pars, as he bested the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers with a solid 2-over 39.
