Kyan DeLong, a senior on the Emmaus golf team, erupted for three birdies and an eagle on the outgoing nine at Southmoore Golf Course in Bath on his way to an even-par 71 that gave him a victory in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour event Friday.
DeLong made birdies on the second and fourth holes before getting an eagle on the par-4 eighth. Another birdie at the ninth enabled him to tour Southmoore’s front nine in 4-under 32.
DeLong had nine pars on his scorecard, including a string of five straight pars from the 10th through the 14th holes.
Max Angermeier of Mount Laurel, N.J. made a birdie on the fourth hole and had 11 pars on his card, matching DeLong’s run of five straight pars from 10 through 14, as he earned runnerup honors with a 6-over 77, six shots behind DeLong.
Vyom Shukla of Berwyn and Ryan Stankoski of Mullica Hill, N.J. finished in a tie for third place as each ended up three shots behind Angermeier with an 80.
Shukla made a birdie on the 11th hole and had eight pars on his card while Stankoski made a birdie at 13 and had nine pars on his card.
Chris Cipollone of Havertown took fifth place with an 82, Owen Rakow, a senior on the La Salle golf team and a Lansdale resident, was sixth with an 84 and Ben Mayer, a senior on the Garnet Valley golf team, was seventh with an 85.
Julian Bond of West Grove and Nolan Murray Jr. of Ambler shared eighth place, each posting an 86, and Blake Shakal of Hershey rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as he finished 10th with a 96.
Logan McGinn, the talented 13-year-old from South Williamsport, made a birdie on the 10th hole and had 14 pars on his scorecard, including a string of five birdies in a row from five through nine, as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division with a 2-over 73.
Quinn Gallagher, a junior on The Haverford School’s reigning Inter-Ac League championship team and a Bryn Mawr resident, made birdies on the first and fifth holes and had 11 pars on his card as he finished a shot behind McGinn in second place with a 3-over 74.
Bryce Bussom of Lewisburg had a birdie on the eighth hole and had nine pars on his card as he finished in third place with a 79.
Alex Salata of Devon took fourth place with an 81, Ethan Lang of Harleysville was fifth with an 83, Jaxon Law of Souderton was sixth with a 99, Jackson Zurowski of Downingtown was seventh with a 100 and Kyle Talley of Springfield finished eighth with a 101.
Nathan Gruber, a sophomore on the Central Bucks East golf team, Charlie Murray of Berwyn and Chase Ruffin of Penn Valley finished in a tie for ninth place, each tallying a 107.
Rounding out the field in the 13-to-15 division was Dylan Zurowski, another member of Downingtown’s Team Zurowski, as he finished in 12th place with a 115.
Joe Bowers of Lewisburg made an eagle on the short, par-4 seventh hole and had five pars on his scorecard, including four straight pars to open his round, as he bested the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers with a 2-over 38.
Helmut Dang of Newtown Square, coming off a Philly Junior Tour victory a day earlier at Skippack Golf Club, made a birdie on the fourth hole and made five straight pars to close out his round as he finished a shot behind Bowers in second place with a 3-over 39.
Jonathan Thomas of Landenberg and Niko Muego of Bryn Mawr finished in a tie for third place, each ending up two shots behind Dang with a 41.
Thomas made birdies on the third and sixth holes and had a par at two. Muego had five pars on his card.
Aiden Jose of Brick, N.J. took fifth place with a 43, Sadashiv Joshi of Coopersburg was sixth with a 47, Charlie Sears of Wilmington, Del. was seventh with a 49 and Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del. rounded out the field in the boys 12-and-under division as he finished eighth with a 50.
