Dillman a cool customer in claiming a Philly Junior Tour victory at Jeffersonville

Chase Dillman, who capped a standout scholastic career at Boyertown by earning a trip to the PIAA Class AAA Championship last fall, got it in red figures with a 1-under-par 69 at Jeffersonville Golf Club, the Donald Ross design in West Norriton, that gave him a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division June 25th.

While the weather wasn’t quite as uncomfortable as it had been the previous two days, it was still pretty toasty for the junior golfers at Jeffersonville.

Dillman showed he could handle the heat as he made a birdie at the third hole, went back-to-back with birdies at nine and 10 and added two more birdies at 12 and 16. Dillman also had 10 pars on his scorecard in capturing the victory.

David Burmeister, who wrapped up his scholastic career at Southern Lehigh last fall, had a birdie on the third hole, went back-to-back with birdies at 10 and 11 and added two more birdies at 14 and 16 as he matched par with a 70 to finish a shot behind Dillman in second place. Burmeister had eight pars on his card.

Bryce Ciochetto, a senior on the Haverford High golf team, went back-to-back with birdies at the second and third holes, added another birdie at 10 and had six pars on his card as he finished in third place with a 4-over 74.

Beau Bliem, a junior on the Pope John Paul II golf team from Collegeville, took fourth place with a 75, Parker Bohn, a junior on the North Penn golf team, was fifth with a 76 and John Gavaghan, a senior on the La Salle golf team from Ambler, and Michael Bonczak, a junior on the Upper Dublin golf team, finished in a tie for sixth place, each landing on 77.

Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division was the trio of Andrew Rindgen, who wrapped up scholastic career at Haverford High last fall, Everett Dunner, a sophomore on the Perkiomen Valley golf team, and A.J. Tenuta, a junior on the Archbishop Wood golf team, as they finished in a tie for eighth place, each tallying a 79.

Daniel Ross of Harleysville made birdies on the second, sixth and 10th holes and had six pars on his scorecard as he earned a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division with a 7-over 77.

Henry Sokol of Villanova had 10 pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors in the division with a 78 that left him a shot behind Ross.

Jesse Shurman, another Villanova guy, and Jack Lubley of Gladwyne finished a shot behind Henry Sokol in a tie for third place, each ending up with a 79.

Shurman, coming off a victory in the 13-to-15 division a day earlier at Inniscrone Golf Club in southern Chester County, made birdies at the third and 10th holes and had eight pars on his card. Lubley had 11 pars on his card, seven of them on the incoming nine at Jeffersonville.

Frank Kunze, a sophomore on the Garnet Valley golf team, and John Peyton of Wayne shared fifth place, each recording an 80 and Max Davis of Newtown Square and Mason Kim of Blue Bell finished in a tie for seventh, each signing for an 81.

Ethan Lang of Harleysville took ninth place with an 82 and Jack Sokol of Villanova, the twin brother of Henry Sokol, rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished 10th with an 83.

Nicole Tarquinio of Bridgeton, N.J. made a birdie on the 14th hole and had five pars on her scorecard as she claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 16-to-18 division by two shots with an 87 in a tight battle with recent Perkiomen Valley graduate Nadia Yackanicz.

Yackanicz made a birdie on the eighth hole and had five pars on her card as she earned runnerup honors among the older girls with an 89.

Cora Cantwell, a junior on the Pennridge golf team, rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division as she had two pars on her card on her way to a 98 that left her in third place.

Gabrielle Kim of Ambler made a birdie on the seventh hole and had five pars on her scorecard, including a string of four straight pars from eight through 11, as she earned a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division with a 92.

Annie Corrigan, a sophomore on the Mount St. Joseph golf team and a Huntingdon Valley resident, rounded out a short field in the 13-to-15 division as she had two pars on her card while finishing in second place with a 98.

Niko Muego of Bryn Mawr had six pars on his scorecard, including a run of four pars in a row from the third through the sixth holes, as he bested the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers with a 4-over 39.

Jack Kolmer of Wayne had five pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Muego in second place with a 5-over 40 in a typically tight battle among the 12-and-under guys.

Xunnan Dang of Newtown Square had three pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Kolmer in third place with a 6-over 41.

Samuel Karas of Blue Bell took fourth place with a 42, Damien Dollard of Cinnaminson, N.J. was fifth with a 43 and Jack Gilbert of Bryn Mawr was sixth with a 45.

It is a measure of the depth of talent in the division that Jonathan Thomas of Landenberg, a day after claiming the top spot among the boys 12-and-under nine holers at Inniscrone, could do no better than seventh place at Jeffersonville with a 46.

Carter Bove of Kennett Square took eighth place with a 48 and Connor Masulis of Pottstown and James Schneider of Penn Valley rounded out the top 10 in the boys 12-and-under division as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each registering a 49.

Trisha Lobo, the talented 10-year-old from Collegeville, bested the field of girls 12-and-under nine-holers as she made a par on the third hole on her way to a 48.

Sophia Kim of Chester Springs was the runnerup with a 56 and Skylar Crutchfield of Elkins Park rounded out the girls 12-and-under division as she made a par on the second hole on her way to a 62 that left her in third place.
