Rocco Sanfelice of Woolwich, N.J. got off to a fast start, touring the front nine at Wilmington Country Club’s challenging North Course in even-par 35 Monday, on his way to a 3-over 74 that gave him a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division.
Sanfelice had birdies at the first and eighth holes and an eagle at the fifth as part of his strong showing on the outgoing nine at the 6,299-yard, par-71 North Course. Sanfelice ended up with 11 pars on his scorecard.
Preston Worch of Rockville, Md. got it going on the back nine at Wilmington’s North Course with birdies at the 12th, 13th and 18th holes as he posted a 1-over 37 on the incoming nine on his way to a 6-over 77 that earned him runnerup honors. Worch had six pars on his card.
Brendan Meagher of Swedesboro, N.J. had birdies at the sixth, 14th and 17th holes and had eight pars as he took third place, a shot behind Worch with a 78.
Charles Ota of Blue Bell took fourth place with an 80, Brady Manning of Downingtown and Evan Rydel of Glen Mills shared fifth place, each registering an 82, and Alexander McCauley of Maple Glen and Jack Orr of Medford, N.J. finished in a tie for seventh place, each signing for an 84.
Trevor Talerico of West Chester ended up in ninth place with an 87 and Jacob Brady of Newark, Del. rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as he finished alone in 10th with an 88.
The second-best score of the day emerged from the 13-to-15 division as Kasim Narinesingh-Smith of Kennett Square finished atop the leaderboard with a 4-over 75. Narinesingh-Smith birdied the first hole and had seven of the 12 pars on his scorecard in a solid even-par 35 tour of Wilmington North’s outgoing nine. Narinesingh-Smith finished with a flourish, adding a second birdie at the last.
Zachary Antao of Wilmington, Del. birdied the 16th hole and posted an even-par 36 on Wilmington North’s incoming nine as he earned runnerup honors among the younger guys with a 7-over 78. Antao ended up with 12 pars on his scorecard.
Samuel Feeney of West Chester took third place with an 80 that featured birdies at the fifth and 14th holes and seven pars and Noah Richardson of Malvern was fourth with an 84.
Rudy Mench of Wilmington, Del., Jax Puskar, another Kennett Square entry, and Sebastian Botero of Abington finished in a tie for fifth place, each landing on 85. Michael Henry of Wayne and Michael Dignazio of Greenville, Del. shared eighth place, each registering an 86.
Brendan Reilly of Doylestown and Sam Narducci of Haddonfield, N.J. rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as they finished in a tie for 10th place, each carding an 87.
Elizabeth O’Connell of Downingtown birdied the second hole and had 11 pars on her scorecard as she claimed a victory in the girls 16-to-18 division with a solid 5-over 76.
Ava Svindland of Wilmington, Del. birdied the 14th hole and had nine pars on her card as she earned runnerup honors with an 84. Emma Schotsch, who wrapped up a solid scholastic career at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy this spring, had seven pars as she ended up in third place with an 87.
Keerthana Rajamohan of Limerick finished in fourth place with a 92 and Maria Crowe of Downingtown rounded out the 16-to-18 division field as she ended up in fifth with a 103.
Meredith Finger, another member of a large junior contingent from Wilmington, Del. in the field, finished at the top of the 13-to-15 leaderboard with an 87 that featured six pars.
Danielle Higbee of Mickleton, N.J. had six pars to finish in second place with a 94 and Emily Mayo of Boothwyn rounded out the field of younger girls as she took third with a 109 that included a par on the sixth hole.
Trevor Sieben of Medford, N.J. continued his recent run of strong play as he bested the field of nine-holers with a 5-over 40 that featured a birdie at the fifth hole and three pars. Sieben had a pair of victories in the coed 12-and-under division last week, winning at Medford Lakes Country Club and in a gathering exclusively for the nine-holers at Merchantville Country Club.
Jake Hollerback of Millsboro, Del. had five pars, including three straight to conclude his round, as he earned runnerup honors with a 7-over 42. William Littleton of Fort Washington birdied the fifth hole as he finished in third place with a 44.
Chase Wilson of Talleyville, Del. took fourth place with a 45, Gus Stoltzfus of Lincoln University was fifth with a 46 and a couple of Moorestown, N.J. entries, Katherine Liu and Judd Fletcher, shared sixth, each landing on 47.
Onyu Park of Blue Bell finished in eighth place with a 48, Luka Fedlukov of Downingtown was ninth with a 49 and Connor Smolenski of West Chester rounded out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under field as he ended up in 10th place with a 50.
