Jackson Lane of Cinnaminson, N.J. put together a solid 2-over-par 38 at West Chester Golf & Country Club Friday to claim a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in a Nine-Hole Series event limited strictly to coed 12-and-under division competitors.
Lane was solid with seven pars on his scorecard, including the last four in a row over the 2,584-yard, par-36 West Chester layout. It was Lane’s second straight Junior Tour victory coming two days after he bested the field of nine-holers in a stop at The Shore Club in Cape May Court House, N.J.
Lawson Leeper of York birdied the first hole and made four straight pars from the fifth through the eighth holes as he finished a shot behind Lane in second place with a 3-over 39.
A couple of Nazareth guys, Holden Sparks and Alex DiGiacinto, shared third place, each posting a 4-over 40. Sparks birdied the eight hole and had three pars on his scorecard while DiGiacinto parred his first four holes in a row and had birdies at the sixth and ninth holes.
Ian Rotto of Kennett Square, Wyatt Underwood of Telford and Quinten Joiner of Millington, Md. each registered a 41 to finish in a tie for fifth place.
Rounding out the top 10 were three players – William Johnson of Berwyn, Ian Larsen of Glenmoore and Colby Komancheck of Royersford – who finished in a tie for eighth place, each signing for a 42.
Larsen has been on a pretty good roll, winning the Junior-Junior crown in the Pennsylvania Junior Boys’ Championship a couple of weeks ago at Lebanon Country Club and teaming with Davis Conaway to claim top honors in the Junior-Junior division in the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s Francis X. Hussey Memorial at Rolling Green Golf Club last week.
