With real-feel temperatures hovering around 100 in the Philadelphia area Wednesday, the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour players caught a few cool ocean breezes in a stop at The Shore Club in Cape May Court House, N.J.
Brendan Meagher of Swedesboro, N.J. had birdies on the seventh, 15th and 17th holes and 10 pars on his scorecard, matching par on the back nine of the challenging par-72 layout with a 36 as he claimed a victory in the 16-to-18 division with a 2-over 74.
Blake Stewart, a District One Class AAA qualifier as a senior at Pennridge last fall, birdied the par-5 12th hole and also had 10 pars on his scorecard as he earned runnerup honors with a 7-over 79.
Cole Apeldorn of Southampton and Jake Riggs of Rio Grande, N.J. finished in a tie for third place, each landing on 82. Apeldorn birdied the 15th hole and recorded eight pars. Riggs got it going on the front nine with birdies at the fifth, seventh and ninth holes and registered five pars.
Joe Halferty of Blue Bell took fifth place with an 85, Evan Goldberg of Linwood, N.J. was sixth with an 87, Joshua Murphy of Newtown Square was seventh with an 89 and Brian Senour of North Wales was eighth with a 90.
Aiden Canning of Limerick ended up in ninth place with a 93, Joe Ritchie of Medford, N.J. was 10th with a 94 and Tyler Myers of Easthampton, N.J. rounded out the 16-to-18 field with a 97 that left him in 11th.
Travis Robertson of Fort Washington made birdies at the third and 12th holes and had nine pars on his scorecard, including four straight from 14 through 17, on his way to a 7-over 79 that gave him top honors in the 13-to-15 division.
Justin Forman of Sewell, N.J. and Tommy Marshall of Marlton, N.J. shared runnerup honors as each signed for an 83. Forman birdied the 12th hole and registered seven pars and Marshall made a birdie at five and recorded nine pars.
Zachary Freed of Linwood, N.J. finished a shot behind Forman and Marshall in fourth place with an 84. Daniel Hertchel, another Linwood, N.J. entry, and Matthew Rieger of Collegeville ended up in a tie for fifth place, each posting an 85.
Brandan Tyhanic of Little Egg Harbor, N.J. took seventh place with an 86, Coley Coffey of Fort Washington was eighth with an 87, Liam McFadden of Bryn Mawr was ninth with an 88 and Chase Gillie of Newtown rounded out the top 10 among the younger guys as he finished alone in 10th place with a 90.
Grace Klements of Little Egg Harbor, N.J. birdied the par-4 third hole and had three pars on The Shore Club’s incoming nine as she earned a victory in the girls 16-to-18 division with an 89.
Central Bucks East junior Nina Harris had three pars as she rounded out the 16-to-18 field with an 88 that left her alone in second place.
Lane Jackson of Cinnaminson, N.J. started his round with three straight pars and finished with five pars overall as he bested the field of nine-holers with a 6-over 42.
Trevor Sieben of Medford, N.J. and Katherine Liu of Moorestown, N.J. shared runnerup honors as each signed for a 43. Sieben had four pars on his scorecard while Liu birdied the sixth hole and had two pars on her scorecard.
Onyu Park of Blue Bell took fourth place with a 46, William Littleton of Fort Washington was fifth with a 50, Lucas Solano of Vineland, N.J. was sixth with a 52 ad David Padgett of Barnegat, N.J. was seventh with a 53.
Kwanyun Loo of Cherry Hill, N.J. finished in eighth place with a 56 and Emma DiPatri of Franklinville, N.J. rounded out the coed 12-and-under division as she ended up alone in ninth place with a 66.
