Holden Sparks, a sophomore on the Nazareth golf team, and Ryan Sun of Morganville, N.J. each bettered par at Bear Trap Dunes’ Grizzly and Kodiak nines in Ocean View, Del., each carding a 1-under-par 71 to share first place in the 13-to-15 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop in perfect late-summer weather Sept. 14th.
Sparks made an eagle on the par-5 16th hole, which helped him tour that nine in 2-under 34. He made birdies on the second and fourth holes early in his round and closed it out with a birdie at 18. Sparks had nine pars on his scorecard.
After making a birdie at the sixth hole early in his round, Sun finished strong with back-to-back birdies at 17 and 18. Sun also had 13 pars on his card, opening his round with five straight pars.
Torrin Denton of Mullica Hill, N.J. made birdies at the 13th and 16th holes and had 12 pars on his card, including five pars in a row to open his round, as he finished six shots behind Sparks and Sun in third place with a 5-over 77.
Luke Peyton of Frankford, Del. took fourth place with a 79 and Sparks’ Nazareth teammate, Alex DiGiacinto, also a sophomore, was fifth with an 80.
Jack Tunnell of Lewes, Del. took sixth place with an 83, Steven Musacchio of Glenmoore was seventh with an 85, Alex Salata of Devon was eighth with an 87 and Declan Henry of Harleysville was ninth with an 88.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division was Luke Miladinov of Hillsborough, N.J. as he finished in 10th place with an 89.
Might have been a ferry trip for Drake Brogan as he traveled from Ocean View, N.J. to Ocean View, Del. to capture a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division with a 2-over 74.
Brogan went back-to-back with birdies at the ninth and 10th holes, added a third birdie at 12 and had 11 pars on his scorecard, including six straight pars to close out his round. Brogan played his final nine holes in 2-under 34.
Dillon Ludwig, another Hillsborough, N.J. guy, had 15 pars on his card, including 10 straight pars to open his round, as he earned runnerup honors with a 4-over 76.
Eoin Regan, a senior on the North Penn golf team, and Jack Ferm, a junior on the Garnet Valley golf team, shared third place, each landing a shot behind Ludwig with a 5-over 77.
Regan made a birdie on the 12th hole and had 12 pars on his card, including a run of four straight pars from eight through 11. Ferm made birdies on the ninth and 16th holes and had 11 pars on his card, including six straight pars to close out his round.
Ryan Mcnett of Lewes, Del. took fifth place with a 79, Christopher Jones of Mullica Hill, N.J. was sixth with an 80, Jaden Irvin, a junior on the Hershey High golf team, was seventh with an 81, Jack Handling of Talleyville, Del. was eighth with an 82 and Blake Shakai of Hershey was ninth with an 88.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division were Gavin Kinsey, a senior on the Boyertown golf team, and Nathaniel Clark of Dover, Del. as they finished in a tie for 10th place, each tallying an 89.
Isha Garg of Berlin, Md. made a birdie on the seventh hole and had eight pars on her scorecard as she claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 16-to-18 division with a solid 83.
Brooke Burge of Middletown, Del. had four pars on her card as she finished in second place in a short field in the 16-to-18 division with a 100.
Brianna Stwalley, a sophomore on the Central Bucks West golf team, was the lone entry in the 13-to-15 division and made a par on the 17th hole on her way to a 94.
Brody Rollins of Milton, Del. made a birdie on the seventh hole and had six pars on his scorecard, including four straight pars to open his round, as he bested the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers with a solid 1-over 37.
Jonathan Thomas of Landenberg made a birdie on the third hole and had four pars on his card as he finished three shots behind Rollins in second place with a 4-over 40.
Aidan Treshaj of Ambler rattled off three straight pars at the fourth, fifth and sixth holes as he finished in third place with a 44.
Kelly Salvesen of Cape May Court House, N.J. rounded out the field in the boys 12-and-under division as he took fourth place with a 50.
