Carson Holmes, in one of his final tuneups for his senior season at Coatesville, unleashed a 4-under-par burst in a three-hole stretch on the outgoing nine as he claimed a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division at Galen Hall Golf Club in Wernersville, Berks County Aug. 22nd with a 1-over 71.
Holmes, a two-time PIAA Class AAA qualifier, made a birdie on the third hole, eagled the short par-4 fifth, and birdied the sixth hole. He finished with 11 pars on his scorecard, rattling off eight straight pars from the 10th through the 17th holes.
Miles McGinty, a sophomore on the Warwick golf team, made birdies on the 10th and 13th holes and had 10 pars on his card as he finished three shots behind Holmes among the older guys to earn runnerup honors with a 4-over 74.
John McCarthy of Conshohocken also had an eagle on his card at the par-5 eighth hole as he finished a shot behind McGinty in third place with a 75. McCarthy also made birdies on the third and 12th holes and had eight pars on his card.
Sean McGettigan of Somerdale, N.J. took fourth place with a 77, Shane Cornell, a junior on the Avon Grove golf team, was fifth with a 78, Nolan Murray Jr. of Ambler was sixth with an 84 and Kevin Lang of Downingtown was seventh with an 87.
Seth Fisher of Millville, N.J. took eighth place with a 92 and Blake Shakal of Hershey rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as he finished ninth with a 94.
Rithvik Nimma of Newtown made birdies on the first, fifth, eighth, 12th and 14th holes and had nine pars on his scorecard as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division with a solid 2-over 72.
Nimma was coming off a runnerup finish in a Philly Junior Tour stop at Middletown Country Club two days earlier.
Eric Cunningham of Wayne made birdies on the first, sixth and 12th holes and had 10 pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors among the younger guys with a 4-over 74.
Neil Ray of West Chester had 13 pars on his card, opening his round with a string of six straight pars and closing his round with four straight pars, as he finished in third place with a 77.
The trio of Pierce Lamichane of Lancaster, Steven Musacchio of Glenmoore and Evan Hall of West Deptford, N.J. shared fourth place, each ending up with an 85.
Carson McNamee of Harleysville took seventh place with an 89 and Rory Jones of Glenside rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as he finished eighth with a 93.
Emily Stauffer, a senior on the Warwick golf team, made a birdie on the ninth hole and had seven pars on her scorecard as she claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 16-to-18 division with an 82.
Andi Jones, a senior on the Cheltenham golf team and another member of Glenside’s Team Jones, finished up each nine at Galen Hall with a birdie, one at the ninth hole and another at 18, and had three pars on her card as she earned runnerup honors with a 90.
Fortress Chryst of Wescosville made a par on the second hole as she rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division by finishing in third place with a 109.
Brianna Stwalley, a sophomore on the Central Bucks West golf team, made birdies on the fourth and seventh holes while touring the outgoing nine at Galen Hall in 2-over 37 and had seven pars on her scorecard as she matched Stauffer’s 82 to finish at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division.
Reagan Miller of Lancaster had six pars on her card, including four straight pars to finish out her round, as she earned runnerup honors with an 89.
Elyssa Capaldo of Trooper made pars at the 13th and 17th holes as she rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division by finishing in third place with a 100.
Preston Minio of Lansdale shook off a double bogey-bogey start by going 5-under the rest of the way as he bested the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers with a sizzling 2-under 33.
After making a birdie at the third hole, Minio made an eagle at the par-4 fifth and birdies at seven and nine. He also had three pars on his scorecard.
Jonathan Thomas of Landenberg and Baylor Keim of Blue Bell shared runnerup honors as each matched par with a 35.
Thomas made birdies on the second, fifth and ninth holes and had three pars on his card. Keim made a birdie at the fifth hole and had seven pars on his card, making four straight pars to open his round and closing his round with three straight pars.
Connor Michaels of Lancaster and Damien Dollard of Cinnaminson, N.J. shared fourth place, each tallying a 3-over 38, Andrew DElia of Clarks Summit was sixth with a 40 and Adam Feith of Merion Station and Rylan Foust of Exton finished in a tie for seventh, each signing for a 41.
Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del. took ninth place with a 42 and August Steel of Perkasie rounded out the top 10 in the boys 12-and-under division as he finished 10th with a 43.
Lillian Fry of Pennsburg was the lone entry in the girls 12-and-under division and she posted a 50.
