Quinn Marshall, a junior on the Wilmington Friends School golf team, matched par with a 72 at Applecross Country Club along Route 322 in East Brandywine Township to capture a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory Aug. 25th in the 16-to-18 division.
Marshall made birdies on the first, ninth, 13th, 15th and 17th holes and had nine pars on his scorecard. The three birdies on the incoming nine at Applecross enabled Marshall to tour the back in 1-under 36.
Isaac Birdsone of King of Prussia and Chris Cipollone of Havertown shared runnerup honors among the older guys as each carded a 7-over 79.
Birdsong made birdies on the fifth and 15th holes and had nine pars on his card. Cipollone was steady with 12 pars on his card, seven of them on the incoming nine at Applecross, including four straight pars to close out his round.
Logan Hyndman of Newtown took fourth place with an 81 and the duo of Chris Parrish, a Kingsway senior and winner of the Delaware Junior Boys’ Championship this summer, and Colin Myers of Mount Laurel Township, N.J., shared fifth, each signing for an 83.
Braydon Dolan, a junior on the Springfield (Delco) golf team, took seventh place with an 84, Max Angermeier of Mount Laurel, N.J. was eighth with an 89 and Adrian Ciavarelli, a senior on the Penncrest golf team, finished ninth with a 94.
Rounding out the field in the 16-to-18 division was Rhys Makai of Swarthmore as he finished in 10th place with a 103.
Henry Sokol of Villanova and Sebastian Park of Lansdale finished in a tie at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division as each tallied a 4-over 76.
Sokol made birdies on the 10th and 15th holes and had 11 pars on his scorecard, including a string of four straight pars from the 11th through the 14th holes. For Sokol, the reigning Graham Company Player of the Year in the 13-to-15 division, it was his sixth Philly Junior Tour win of the season.
Park made birdies on the 10th and 12th holes and had 11 pars on his card to get a share of first place with Sokol.
Taimoor Naseem, the talented 12-year-old from Sinking Spring, had 13 pars on his card as he finished in third place, a shot behind Sokol and Park, with a 5-over 77. Naseem had a run of six straight pars from the sixth through the 11th holes and closed out his round with four straight pars.
Brody Campbell of Plymouth Meeting and William Thorkelson of Bryn Mawr shared fourth place, each recording a 79 and Trebor Melendez of Vineland, N.J. and Jesse Shurman of Villanova finished in a tie for sixth place, each registering an 80.
Jesse Shurman was coming off a Philly Junior Tour victory the previous week at Middletown Country Club.
Theodore Diamond of Lutherville-Timonium, Md. took eighth place with an 82, Nicholas DiMedio of Haddonfield, N.J. was ninth with an 83 and Toby Lerner of Philadelphia rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished 10th with an 84.
Nicole Tarquinio of Bridgeton, N.J. made a birdie on the third hole and had four pars on her scorecard as she earned a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 16-to-18 division with a 91.
Shloka Vishwanath, a junior on the Downingtown West golf team, rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division as she posted a 102 to finish in second place.
Erin Urbanski of West Chester had four pars on her scorecard as she finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division with a 106.
Elyssa Capaldo of Trooper rounded out a short field in the 13-to-15 division as she made a par on the third hole and finished four shots behind Urbanski in second place with a 110.
Jack Kolmer of Wayne made birdies on the fifth and eighth holes and had six pars on his scorecard, including three straight pars to open his round, as he bested the field of 12-and-under nine-holers with a 1-under 34.
The kid is a 10-year-old and he’s going under par for nine holes. Look out.
Preston Minio of Lansdale made birdies on the second and fifth holes and had five pars on his card, including four straight pars to close out his round, as he matched par with a 35, but had to settle for runnerup honors.
Minio was coming off a Philly Junior Tour victory three days earlier at Galen Hall Golf Club.
Damien Dollard of Cinnaminson, N.J. made a birdie on the ninth hole and had six pars on his card, all of them in a row from two through seven, as he finished in third place, a shot behind Minio with a 1-over 36.
The trio of Blake Shurman, another member of Villanova’s Team Shurman, Helmut Dang of Newtown Square and Jack Gilbert of Bryn Mawr finished in a tie for fourth place, each signing for a 2-over 37.
Charlie Sears of Wilmington, Del. took seventh place with a 42 and Ryan Comly of Newtown Square and Jamie Cahn of Penn Valley finished in a tie for eighth, each recording a 45.
Matthew Bowman of Newtown rounded out the top 10 in the boys 12-and-under division as he finished in 10th place with a 49.
Allison Choi of Penn Valley had four pars on her scorecard as she bested the field of girls 12-and-under nine-holers with a solid 41.
A couple of West Chester girls, Seraphina Seidenberg and Elizabeth Martin, rounded out the field in the girls 12-and-under division as Seidenberg made a par on the seventh hole to take second place with a 55 and Martin was another shot behind Seidenberg in third with a 56.
