Turner's eagle helps him soar to a Philly Junior Tour victory at The Bucks Club

Logan Turner of Berwyn has been playing some solid golf all summer.

He earned a spot in the match-play bracket in the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s Junior Boys’ Championship early in the summer at Merion Golf Club’s West Course.

Turner flashed again in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop July 24th at The Bucks Club in Jamison as he recorded the best score of the day among the guys with a sparkling 1-under-par 69 to finish at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division.

A birdie at the second hole and an eagle at the par-5 seventh helped Turner tour the outgoing nine at The Bucks Club in 2-under 34.

Turner, who plays out of White Manor Country Club, added another birdie at the 10th hole and had 12 pars on his scorecard, including five straight pars to close out his round.

Like several of the top players in the 13-to-15 division, Turner is a Class of 2029 competitor. That means he and his fellow Class of ’29 guys will be teeing it up in high school matches before the month is out. I’m thinking some of these guys are going to be making an immediate impact.

Jason Kim of Ambler made birdies on the second and 11th holes and had 11 pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with a 3-over 73 that left him four shots behind Turner.

Henry Sokol of Villanova made a birdie on the second hole and had 12 pars on his card as he finished in third place with a 6-over 76.

Justin Stickel, a sophomore on the Council Rock South golf team, shared fourth place with Sebastian Leone of Wayne, each posting a 77 and Jack Sokol, the twin brother of Henry Sokol, finished sixth with an 81.

Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division was a foursome of players, including Owen Ciesielka, an incoming freshman at Malvern Prep from West Chester, Max Davis of Newtown Square, Chase Tarantino of Yardley and Jack Lobley of Gladwyne, that finished in a tie for seventh place, each signing for an 82.

Justin Marcus, a senior on the Downingtown West golf team, made a birdie on the third hole and had 13 pars on his scorecard, including a string of seven straight pars from the fourth through the 10th holes, as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division with a 4-over 74.

Isaac Birdsong of King of Prussia made birdies on the 10th and 12th holes and had nine pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors among the older guys with a 6-over 76.

Thomas Carpenter, a junior at Holy Ghost Prep and a Bristol resident, had 11 pars on his card as he finished in third place, a shot behind Birdsong with a 77.

The trio of Matt Tegano, a senior on the Central Bucks East golf team, Drake Brogan of Ocean View, N.J. and Shane Cornell, a junior on the Avon Grove golf team, finished in a tie for fourth place, each tallying an 81.

Tegano’s Central Bucks East teammate, Gavin Reinert, a senior, and Jack McPeak, a senior on the Upper Moreland golf team, shared seventh place, each registering an 82, and Harriton senior Carson Deringer, a District One Class AAA qualifier last fall, finished ninth with an 83.

Alexander Gibbs, a senior on the Wissahickon golf team, rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as he finished in 10th place with an 84.

For the third day in a row, the best score among the girls was turned in by Madison Cabot of Newtown as she carded a sparking 1-over 71 to claim a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division.

Cabot made birdies at the second, seventh, 14th and 17th holes and had nine pars on her card. She toured the outgoing nine at The Bucks Club in 1-under 35 while recording her 11th Philly Junior Tour win of the season.

Brianna Stwalley, a sophomore on the Central Bucks West golf team playing close to her Jamison home, had three pars on her card as she earned runnerup honors with a 91.

Rounding out a short field in the 13-to-15 division was Abigail Olex, a junior on the Sacred Heart Academy golf team and a Media resident, as she made pars on the fourth and 11th holes while finishing in third place with a 123.

Suzi Ahn, a senior on the Conestoga girls golf team that finished in fourth place in the PIAA Class AAA team competition last fall, had five pars on her scorecard, four of them on The Bucks Club’s incoming nine, as she finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division with an 88.

Mariana Walker, a senior on the Council Rock North golf team, had five pars on her card as she rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division by finishing three shots behind Ahn in second place with a 91.

Jack Gilbert of Bryn Mawr and Bobby Stefanski of Newtown Square bested the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers as they finished in a tie for first place, each posting a 4-over 40 on The Bucks Club’s outgoing nine.

Gilbert finished up his round with a birdie at the ninth hole and had three pars on his scorecard. Stefanski had six pars on his card, opening his round with three straight pars and then closing his round with pars on his last three holes.

Nicholas Chung of Berwyn had four pars on his card as he finished two shots behind Gilbert and Stefanski in third place with a 42.

Niko Muego of Bryn Mawr and Baylor Keim of Blue Bell shared fourth place, each signing for a 43, Kaycen Subbio, another Blue Bell entry, was sixth with a 44 and Matthew Bowman of Newtown finished seventh with a 45.

Rounding out the top 10 in another competitive boys 12-and-under field was the trio of Aiden Jose of Brick, N.J., Aidan Herbert of New Hope and Damien Dollard of Cinnaminson, N.J. as they finished in a tie for eighth place, each recording a 46.

Dollard had ripped off consecutive Philly Junior Tour wins at Laurel Creek Country Club, Ramblewood Country Club and Raven’s Claw Golf Club leading into the stop at The Bucks Club.

The top-10 finishers in the boys 12-and-under division were separated by just six shots.

Emilie Davoli of Ambler had five pars on her scorecard as she bested a short field of girls 12-and-under nine-holers with a 7-over 43.

Rounding out the field in the girls 12-and-under field was Avery Jaffe of Richboro as she finished in second place with a 68.
