Adam Cifra, a sophomore on the roster of Catholic League power La Salle and a Blue Bell resident, got it going on the outgoing nine at Bluestone Country Club and his 3-under-par 68 was the best score of the day in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop July 30th.
Cifra rattled off birdies at the first, fourth, seventh and ninth holes while touring the front nine at Bluestone in 4-under 32. He added another birdie at the 17th hole and had 11 pars on his scorecard as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division.
Sebastian Park of Lansdale made birdies at the first and seventh holes as he put together a solid front nine of 2-under 34 on his way to earning runnerup honors with a 2-over 73. Park also had 12 pars on his card.
Jack Lobley of Gladwyne made a birdie on the 17th hole and had 11 pars on his card, including a run of eight straight pars from five through 12, as he finished in third place with a 77.
Brody Campbell of Plymouth Meeting and Owen Ciesielka, an incoming freshman at Malvern Prep and a West Chester resident, finished in a tie for fourth place, each ending up a shot behind Lobley with a 78.
Ethan Lang of Harleysville took sixth place with a 79 and Jack Shea, another Harleysville entry, and Eric Cunningham of Wayne shared seventh, each signing for an 81.
Justin Stickel, a sophomore on the Council Rock South golf team, and Gavin Lane of Cinnaminson, N.J. rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each tallying an 83.
Kieran Gillespie, a senior on the Haverford High golf team, also ended up in red figures at Bluestone as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division with a 1-under 70.
After making a birdie at the first hole, Gillespie went back-to-back with birdies at three and four and added birdies at eight and 14. He had nine pars on his scoreboard, seven of them on the incoming nine at Bluestone.
A foursome of players, including Jack Ferm, a junior on the Garnet Valley golf team, Griffin Coyle, a senior on the St. Joseph’s Prep golf team and a Blue Bell resident, Parker Bohn, a junior on the North Penn golf team, and Thomas Carpenter, a junior at Holy Ghost Prep and a Bristol resident, finished six shots behind Gilliespie in a tie for second place, each posting a 5-over 76.
Ferm made birdies on the first and 16th holes and had 10 pars on his card, Coyle made birdies on the first and 17th holes and also had 10 pars on his card, Bohn made a birdie on the 17th hole and had 11 pars on his card, including a string of six straight pars from seven through 12, and Carpenter made a birdie at the 15th hole and had 11 pars on his card, including a run of six straight pars from nine through 14.
The trio of Max Angermeier of Mount Laurel, N.J., Jack Yantosh, a junior on the Garnet Valley golf team, and Owen Hammer, a senior on the Harriton golf team, finished in a tie for sixth place, each recording a 77.
Nathan Goblirsch of Hammonton, N.J. and Chase Kuech, a senior on the Upper Moreland golf team, rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each carding a 78.
Conestoga senior Suri Ahn, a member of a Pioneers team that finished in fourth place in the PIAA Class AAA team competition last fall, had the best score among the girls as she made a birdie on the third hole and had three pars on her scorecard on her way to a 91 that gave her the top spot in the 16-to-18 division.
Downingtown West senior Macyn Linsley, a member of a Whippets team that finished just ahead of Conestoga in third place in the PIAA Class AAA team competition last fall, had four pars on her card, all of them on the incoming nine at Bluestone, as she earned runnerup honors with a 99.
Christina St. Pierre, a senior on the Pennsbury golf team, rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division as she had three pars on her card while finishing in third place with a 106.
Sara Fanelli, a sophomore on the Radnor golf team, was the lone entry in the 13-to-15 division and she had five pars on her scorecard on her way to a 94.
Jackson Ehrlich of Berwyn and Carter Bove of Kennett Square shared the top spot among the boys 12-and-under nine-holers as each posted a 6-over 42 on Bluestone’s incoming nine.
Ehrlich made a birdie on the 10th hole and had three pas on his scorecard while Bove made a birdie at 13 and had two pars on his card.
Andrew DElia of Clarks Summit and Ryan Kaye of Lansdale shared third place, each ending up four shots behind Ehrlich and Bove with a 46.
DElia had three pars on his card while Kaye made a par on the 11th hole.
Joey Charpentier of Schwenksville took fifth place with a 47 and Dean Matta of West Grove rounded out the field in the boys 12-and-under division as he finished sixth with a 49.
