For the third time in less than a week, Logan Turner of Berwyn got it in under par to claim a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory, this time July 29th at Berkleigh Golf Club in Kutztown.
Turner, who plays out of White Manor Country Club, made seven birdies on his way to a sizzling 4-under-par 68 over a Berkleigh layout that once played host to a stop on the LPGA Tour hosted by World Golf Hall of Famer and Berks County native Betsy King.
Turner made birdies at the fourth, sixth, ninth, 12th, 14th, 16th and 18th holes and had eight pars on his scorecard to claim the top spot in the 13-to-15 division.
That came on the heels of a 1-under 69 at The Bucks Club July 24th and a 2-under 69 at Rancocas Golf Club July 25th, both of those rounds earning Turner a Philly Junior Tour victory.
Earlier this summer, Turner earned a spot in the match-play bracket in the championship flight of the Golf Association of Philadelphia Junior Boys’ Championship at Merion Golf Club’s West Course.
Billy Nikolaidis, a sophomore on the Muhlenberg golf team, made birdies at the second and sixth holes and had 14 pars on his card, including a string of eight straight pars to close out his round, as he matched par with a 72 to finish four shots behind Turner in second place.
Bryce Bussom of Lewisburg made an eagle at the par-5 16th hole and had 10 pars on his card, including a run of eight straight pars from five through 12, as he took third place with a 6-over 78.
Danny DiDomenico, a sophomore on the Malvern Prep golf team and a Devon resident, Noah Gates of Ardmore and Steven Musacchio of Glenmoore finished in a tie fourth place, each posting an 82.
Owen Ciesielka, an incoming freshman on the Malvern Prep golf team and a West Chester resident, and Drew Gebhard of Lebanon finished in a tie for seventh place, each signing for an 83.
Blake Madonna of Lancaster took ninth place with a 92 and Jake Rapp, a sophomore on the Parkland golf team, rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished 10th with a 93.
Isaac Birdsong of King of Prussia and Drake Brogan of Ocean View, N.J. finished in a tie atop the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division as each tallied a 1-over 73.
Birdsong had a birdie at the eighth hole and then finished strong with back-to-back birdies at 17 and 18. He had 12 pars on his scorecard, including seven straight pars to open his round.
Brogan ripped off three straight birdies at the sixth, seventh and eighth holes and had 11 pars on his card, including five straight pars to close out his round.
Justin Marcus, a senior on the Downingtown West golf team, closed out both nines with birdies at the ninth and 18th holes and had 12 pars on his card as he finished in third place among the older guys with a 2-over 74 that left him a shot behind Birdsong and Brogran.
Vyom Shukla of Berwyn took fourth place with a 75, Zach Neuin, who wrapped up his scholastic career at Tulpehocken last fall by earning a trip to the PIAA Class AA Championship, was fifth with a 77, Drew Kennedy of Avondale was sixth with an 80 and Ryan McVey of Pottstown was seventh with an 82.
Red Land senior Aiden French, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, and Joey Bilotta, a senior on the Boyertown golf team, shared eighth place, each recording an 83 and Ben Mayer, a senior on the Garnet Valley golf team, rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as he finished 10th with an 89.
OIivia Diamond, a Philadelphia resident who wrapped up her scholastic career at Nazareth Academy last fall, had 11 pars on her scorecard as she earned a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division with an 84.
Conestoga senior Suri Ahn, a member of a Pioneers team that finished in fourth place in the PIAA Class AAA team competition last fall, rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division as she made birdies at the seventh and 14th holes and had two pars on her card while finishing two shots behind Diamond in second place with an 86.
Charlie Sears of Wilmington, Del. made a birdie on the fifth hole and had five pars on his scorecard as he bested the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers with a 4-over 39.
Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del. had three pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with a 44. Brady Fry of Pennsburg was another four shots behind Wang in third place with a 48.
Rounding out the field in the boys 12-and-under division was Jaxson Freeborn of Reading as he finished in fourth place with a 52.
Alexa Mcelwain of Schnecksville was the lone entry in the girls 12-and-under division and she made back-to-back pars on the fourth and fifth holes on her way to a 57.
