Jack Ferm, a junior on the Garnet Valley golf team, carded a solid 1-over-par 71 at Indian Spring Golf Course in Marlton, N.J. Aug. 1st to claim a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division.
After making a birdie at the fourth hole, Ferm went back-to-back with birdies at 11 and 12 and had 11 pars on his scorecard to finish two shots clear of Trevor Sieben, a Philly Junior Tour veteran from Medford, N.J.
Sieben went back-to-back early in his round with birdies at the fourth and fifth holes, added another birdie at 17 and had 10 pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with a 3-over 73.
Ethan Barroway of Cherry Hill, N.J. and David Watts of Haddonfield, N.J. finished a shot behind Sieben in a tie for third place, each signing for a 4-over 74.
Barroway had 14 pars on his card, including a run of eight straight pars from the fourth through the 11th holes. Like Barroway, Watts was a par machine as he had 14 pars on his card, including a string of seven pars in a row from the seventh through the 13th holes.
Ravi Gohel of Mount Laurel, N.J. took fifth place with a 75, Charles Ball of West Chester was sixth with a 76 and Ryan Stankoski of Mullica Hill, N.J. was seventh with a 77.
Charles Friel of Gladwyne and Jamie Ciesielka of Woolwich Township, N.J. shared eighth place, each posting a 78, and Luke Farnese, a senior on the Plymouth-Whitemarsh golf team, rounded out the top 10 as he finished 10th with a 79.
Lucas Solano of Vineland, N.J. punctuated his round with back-to-back birdies at the 17th and 18th holes as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division with a 2-over 72.
Solano also had birdies at the second, fourth and seventh holes on the outgoing nine at Indian Spring and had six pars on his scorecard.
It was five shots back to Henry Sokol of Villanova, the reigning Graham Company Player of the Year in the Philly Junior Tour’s 13-to-15 division, in second place as he made a birdie at Indian Spring’s finishing hole and had 12 pars on his card, including four straight pars to open his round, on his way to a 7-over 77.
John Hoffman, playing close to his Marlton, N.J. home, finished a shot behind Henry Sokol in third place with a 78 as he had 11 pars on his card, opening his round by rattling off nine straight pars.
Jack Sokol, Henry Sokol’s twin brother, finished alone in fourth place with a 79, coming up two shots behind his brother in the battle for low-Sokol honors.
There was a five-way logjam tied for fifth place at 81, a group that included Will Simonson of Haddonfield, N.J., Parker Kriews of Manahawkin, N.J., Brayden Hughes of Hockessin, Del., Jack Forstein of Moorestown, N.J. and Lucas Shank of West Chester.
Owen Ciesielka, another West Chester guy and a freshman at Malvern Prep, rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished in 10th place with an 82.
Nicole Tarquinio of Bridgeton, N.J. had the best score among the girls as she had 11 pars on her scorecard while recording an 85 that left her at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division.
Christina St. Pierre, a senior on the Pennsbury golf team, had five pars on her card as she earned runnerup honors among the older girls with a 94.
Masey Heenan of Ocean City, N.J. had three pars on her card as she finished in third place with a 96.
Samantha Matey of Manahawkin, N.J. rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as she finished in fourth place with a 106.
Brianna Stwalley, a sophomore on the Central Bucks West golf team who has been on a bit of a late summer roll, had seven pars on her scorecard as she claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division with an 86.
Mallie Heenan, another member of Team Heenan out of Ocean City, N.J., and Gabrielle Kim of Ambler finished in a tie for second place, each tallying a 91 that left them five shots behind Stwalley.
Mallie Heenan had four pars on her card while Kim also had four pars on her card, finishing up her round with back-to-back pars at the 17th and 18th holes.
A couple of girls from Moorestown, N.J. accounted for the next two spots on the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division as Sonia Rosenman took fourth place with a 109 and Naaya Patel was fifth with a 110.
Kyla Fuente of Medford, N.J. took sixth place with a 117 and Lila Canataro of Mount Laurel, N.J. rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as she finished seventh with a 120.
Baylor Keim of Blue Bell closed his round with a birdie at the ninth hole and had five pars on his scorecard as he bested the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers with a 3-over 38.
Keim was coming off a third-place finish in the Philly Junior Tour’s 12-and-under Championship a day earlier at McCall Golf & Country Club in Upper Darby.
Jack Gilbert of Bryn Mawr was right on Keim’s heels as Gilbert had six pars on his card on his way to a runnerup finish with a 4-over 39.
Samuel Karas, another Blue Bell guy, had four pars on his card, rattling off three straight pars at the second, third and fourth holes, as he finished in third place with a 42.
Jackson Jones, another Bryn Mawr guy, took fourth place with a 43, the pair of Dillon Tierney, playing close to his Marlton, N.J. home, and Charlie Sears of Wilmington, Del. shared fifth, each signing for a 45, and Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del. finished seventh with a 47.
Bradan Boal of Woodbine, N.J. took eighth place with a 48 and Chase Venne of Moorestown, N.J. rounded out the field in the boys 12-and-under division as he finished ninth with a 50.
