Luke Fallon, a sophomore on the Wilson golf team, took a trip to the Jersey Shore and LBI National Golf & Resort Monday and carded a 5-over-par 77 to claim a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division.
I’ve been referring to the Class of 2028 competitors like Fallon as freshmen until now. But with school pretty much out for the summer, it’s time to recognize that Fallon has left his freshman year behind and is a sophomore. You Class of ’26 guys and girls are now seniors and the Class of ’27 competitors are juniors.
Fallon was coming off a solid third-place finish in a Philly Junior Tour stop last week at Elmhurst Country Club that earned him a spot in next month’s Philadelphia Boys Junior PGA Championship.
Fallon made birdies at the ninth, 14th and 15th holes and had 10 pars on his scorecard, including a run of five pars in a row from the third through the seventh holes on his way to a Philly Junior Tour victory.
Christopher Parrish of Woolwich Township, N.J. was one of the hottest players during the Philly Junior Tour’s fall schedule at the end of 2024.
He started slowly at LBI National, going triple bogey, bogey, double bogey. But then he found it. Boy, did he ever.
Parrish ripped off three straight birdies at the fourth, fifth and sixth holes, added a birdie at eight and another at 16 and had seven pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Fallon in second place with a 6-over 78. He was 6-over after three holes and went even-par the rest of the way.
Cole Henning, a junior on the Souderton golf team and a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, made a birdie on the third hole and had nine pars on his card, including a string of five straight pars from the eighth through the 12th holes, as he took third place among the older guys with an 81.
Jackson Bodony of Stafford Township, N.J. and Charles Ball of West Chester shared fourth place, each finishing a shot behind Henning with an 82, Landon Shoczolek of North Cape May, N.J. was sixth with an 83, Jordan Stott of West Creek, N.J. was seventh with an 85 and Shane Cornell, a junior on the Avon Grove golf team, was eighth with an 86.
Chase Baker of Huntingdon Valley took ninth place with an 88 and Lucas Kennedy of Medford, N.J. rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as he finished 10th with an 89.
Owen Ciesielka of West Chester made birdies on the second and 10th holes and had nine pars on his scorecard as finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division with a 7-over 79.
Torrin Denton of Mullica Hill, N.J. made a birdie on the 13th hole and had nine pars on his card as he finished two shots behind Ciesielka in second place with an 81.
Ethan Clouser of Newtown had nine pars on his card, including a string of seven straight pars from the ninth through the 15th holes, as he took third place with an 84.
Grayson McCann of Downingtown was a shot behind Clouser in fourth place with an 85, Jason Leekley of Moorestown, N.J. was fifth with an 86 and Gavin Swain of Manahawkin, N.J. and Jack Forstein, another Moorestown, N.J. guy, finished in a tie for sixth, each recording an 88.
Tucker Detwiler of West Chester took eighth place with an 89, Isaiah Stevenson of Media was ninth with an 84 and Max Charbonneau of Wayne and Parker Kriews of Manahawkin, N.J. rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as they finishing in a tie for 10th, each signing for an 85.
Blake Shurman of Villanova made a birdie on the seventh hole as he bested the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers with a 10-over 46.
Ryan Wilkin made a par on the seventh hole on his way to a 50 that left him four shots behind Shurman in second place.
Brady Fry of Pennsburg rounded out a short field in the boys 12-and-under division as he took third place with a 56.
Lillian Fry, another member of Pennsburg’s Team Fry, was the lone competitor in the girls 12-and-under division and made a par on the third hole on her way to a 55.
