Chase Andrews, a junior on the Souderton golf team, carded an impressive 1-under-par 71 at Indian Valley Country Club in Telford to claim a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division Tuesday.
Andrews made birdies on the third, eighth, 15th and 17th holes and had 12 pars on his scorecard. The stop at Indian Valley drew a lot of the top scholastic players to Telford, which straddles the county line between Montgomery and Bucks counties.
Ty Sheftic, a junior on the Wissahickon golf team, made a birdie on the 14th hole and had 12 pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors in the 16-to-18 division with a 4-over 76.
Brody Calle, a senior on the Owen J. Roberts golf team, and Brayden Schnabel, Andrews’ teammate on the Souderton golf team and a senior, shared third place, each ending up a shot behind Sheftic with a 5-over 77.
Calle made a birdie on the 12th hole and had 13 pars on his card, including five pars in a row to open his round. Schnabel made birdies on the fifth, seventh, 15th and 17th holes and had seven pars on his card.
Brian McCarty, Sheftic’s teammate on the Wissahickon golf team and a senior, was alone in fifth place with a 78 and the trio of Justin Marcus, a senior on the Downingtown West golf team, Everett Dunner, a junior on the Perkiomen Valley golf team, and Grant MacColl of Haverford finished in a tie for sixth, each signing for a 79.
Luke Farnese, a senior on the Plymouth-Whitemarsh golf team, took ninth place with an 80 and Nigel Mathur, a junior on the Central Bucks East golf team, rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as he finished 10th with an 81.
Brody Campbell of Plymouth Meeting and Jesse Shurman of Villanova finished in a tie atop the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division as each recorded a solid 1-over 73.
Campbell made birdies on the second, seventh and 12th holes and had 11 pars on his card, including a string of six straight pars to close out his round. Shurman made birdies at the third, ninth and 14th holes and had 11 pars on his card.
Mason Kim of Blue Bell made a birdie on the eighth hole and had nine pars on his card as he finished in third place in the 13-to-15 division with a 79 that was six shots behind Campbell and Shurman.
William Thorkelson of Bryn Mawr finished in fourth place with an 81 and Nicholas Milone, another Bryn Mawr guy, and Jack Shea of Harleysville finished in a tie for fifth, each tallying an 82.
Jake Rapp, a sophomore on the Parkland golf team, and Daniel Ross of Harleysville finished in a tie for seventh place, each registering an 83.
Richard Davoli of Ambler took ninth place with an 87 and Carson McNamee, another Harleysville guy, rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished 10th with a 90.
The best score in the girls divisions came out of the 13-to-15 division as Gabrielle Kim of Ambler made a birdie on the 12th hole and had seven pars on her scorecard to claim a Philly Junior Tour victory with an 85.
Marietta Hartmann, a junior on Episcopal Academy’s Inter-Ac League championship team in the spring, and Lauren Springman, a junior on the Methacton golf team, finished in a tie for second place, each landing on 87, two shots behind Kim.
Hartmann made birdies on the third and eighth holes and had seven pars on her card while Springman had six pars on her card, including a string of five pars in a row from the fourth through the eighth holes.
Madison Cabot of Newtown rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as she finished in fourth place with an 89.
Conestoga senior Suri Ahn had six pars on her scorecard as she finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division with a solid 88. Ahn has been a member of Conestoga teams that have qualified for the PIAA Class AAA team field each of the last two falls.
Cora Cantwell, a junior on the Pennridge golf team, made a birdie on the eighth hole and had four pars on her card as she earned runnerup honors with a 97.
Hadley Stetson of Newtown Square rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division as she had four pars on her card and finished a shot behind Cantwell in third place with a 98.
Xunnan Dang of Newtown Square made birdies on the 14th and 16th holes and had five pars on his scorecard as he bested the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers with an even-par 36 on Indian Valley’s incoming nine.
Dang was coming off a strong showing in a Philly Junior Tour two-day event at Turtle Creek Golf Course, where he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the boys 12-and-under division.
Jack Gilbert of Bryn Mawr made birdies on the 13th and 17th holes and had three pars on his card as finished three shots behind Dang in second place with a 3-over 39.
Rylan Foust of Exton made birdies on the 13th and 18th holes and had two pars on his card as he finished in third place with a 43.
A couple of Blue Bell guys, Samuel Karas and Baylor Keim, joined Joe Bowers of Lewisburg and Declan Mayo of Chadds Ford in a four-way tie for fourth place, each finishing two shots behind Foust with a 45.
Joey Charpentier of Schwenksville and James Wilson of Wilmington, Del. ended up in a tie for eighth place, each tallying a 48 and Ryan Kaye of Lansdale rounded out the top 10 in the boys 12-and-under division by finishing 10th with a 49.
Emilie Davoli, another member of Ambler’s Team Davoli, and Mia DeCarlo of Glen Mills shared top honors in the girls 12-and-under division as each carded a 43.
Emilie Davoli had three pars on her scorecard while DeCarlo made a birdie on the 13th hole and had three pars on her card.
Lillian Fry of Pennsburg rounded out a short field in the girls 12-and-under division as she finished in third place with a 55.
