Lucas Solano of Vineland, N.J. carded a solid 5-over-par 77 at Buena Vista Country Club in Buena, N.J. to capture a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory by a shot over a trio of pursuers Oct. 26th in the 13-to-15 division.
Solano made back-to-back birdies at the sixth and seventh holes, added a third birdie at the last and had eight pars on his scorecard on his way to the Philly Junior Tour win.
Solano’s fellow Vinelander, Trebor Melendez, Henry Sokol of Villanova and Rayan Shah, a freshman on the George School golf team, finished a shot behind Solano in a tie for second place, each posting a 6-over 78.
Melendez, a talented 12-year-old, had 12 pars on his scorecard, including a string of five straight pars from the eighth through the 12th holes.
Sokol, coming off a Philly Junior Tour victory the previous Sunday at Lebanon Country Club, made a birdie on the third hole and had 10 pars on his card.
Shah made birdies at the first and fifth holes and had seven pars on his card.
Charlie Isler of West Chester took fifth place with an 80, Tyler Whitney of Cherry Hill, N.J. was sixth with an 81, Braydon Dolan, a District One Class AAA qualifier this fall as a sophomore on the Springfield golf team, was seventh with an 82 and Parker Bohn of Harleysville was eighth with an 84.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division were Wil Simonson of Haddonfield, N.J. and Jack Yantosh of Glen Mills, each of whom signed for an 85 to finish in a tie for ninth place.
A couple of Medford, N.J. guys, Chase Mitchell and Brayden Tritsch, and Christopher Parrish of Woolwich Township, N.J. shared the top spot in the 16-to-18 division, each recording a 6-over 78.
Mitchell made back-to-back birdies at the third and fourth holes, added another birdie at 14, and had seven pars on his scorecard. Tritsch made a birdie on the ninth hole and had 11 pars on his card, rattling off seven straight pars from the second through the eighth holes.
Parrish, one of the hottest players in his age group on the Philly Junior Tour, made birdies on the third, 10th and 18th holes and had nine pars on his card. The win was Parrish’s 10th on the Philly Junior Tour in the 2024 season.
Riley Byrne of Medford Lakes, N.J. took fourth place, Tre Lesperance, a senior at on the Unionville golf team, was fifth with an 85 and Ethan Barraway of Cherry Hill, N.J. and Gabriel Abalos of Washington Township, N.J. finished in a tie for sixth place, each posting an 86.
Sebastian Furfaro of Mickleton, N.J. and Chase Adomaitis of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. shared eighth place, each signing for an 89 and Ty Patchell of Perryville, Md. and Timothy Hueber of Westmont, N.J. rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as they finished in a tie for 10th, each registering a 90.
Emily M. Renouf of Cinnaminson, N.J. carded a 106 to claim a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 16-to-18 division.
Ava McCaughan of West Chester made a par on the 17th hole as she finished a shot behind Renouf in second place with a 107. Sophia Stultz of Monroeville, N.J. made a par on the seventh hole as she rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division by finishing in third place with a 116.
Jonathan Thomas of Landenberg made a birdie on the ninth hole and had six pars on his scorecard as he bested the field of nine-holers with a 2-over 38.
Damien Dollard of Cinnaminson, N.J. had four pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with a 7-over 43.
Jameson Foreman of Somers Point, N.J. and Baylor Keim of Blue Bell shared third place, each signing for a 46. Foreman had three pars on his card and Keim had a pair of pars on his card.
Bradan Boal of Woodbine, N.J. took fifth place with a 48 and the trio of Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del., Chase Paxton of Wildwood, N.J. and Charlie Sears of Wilmington, Del. finished in a tie for sixth, each registering a 50.
Jamie Cahn of Penn Valley took ninth place with a 55 and Joseph (Joey) Charpentier of Schwenksville rounded out the field in the coed 12-and-under division as he finished 10th with a 60.
