Ben Nowland, a freshman on the Avon Grove golf team this fall, put together a solid 9-over-par 79 at Heidelberg Country Club in Bernville, Berks County to claim a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory Oct. 19th in the 13-to-15 division.
Nowland made birdies on the first and seventh holes and had five pars on his scorecard in capturing the Philly Junior Tour win.
Logan Turner of Berwyn made birdies at the ninth and 17th holes and had nine pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with an 81 that left him two shots behind Nowland.
Owen Ciesielka of West Chester was another five shots behind Turner in third place as he had six pars on his card on his way to an 86.
Luciano Follo of Newtown Square and Walker Mannon of Phoenixville shared fourth place, each posting a 90 and Neil Ray of West Chester finished alone in sixth with a 92.
Jesse Shurman of Villanova, Charles Blok of Downingtown and Jacob Rapp of Schnecksville finished in a tie for seventh place, each landing on 94, and William Thorkelson of Bryn Mawr rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished 10th with a 95.
John Haney of Wayne made a birdie on the seventh hole and had seven pars on his scorecard as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division with an 83.
Kevin Cavalluzzo of Doylestown made a par on the third hole as he finished in second place with a 102.
Jackson Shearer of Harrisburg had four pars on his card as he rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division, finishing in third place with a 105.
Fortress Chryst of Wescosville was the only girl to finish a round at Heidelberg and she made a birdie on the ninth hole and had a par at six as she claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division with a 122.
Xunnan Dang of Newtown Square might have had the best round of the day as went 1-under over his last eight holes with seven pars and a birdie at the sixth hole to best the field of nine-holers with an even-par 36. It was the ninth Philly Junior Tour victory of 2024 for Dang.
Baylor Keim of Blue Bell and Niko Muego of Bryn Mawr finished nine shots behind Dang in a tie for second place, each signing for a 44. Keim made a birdie at the fifth hole and added a par at six. Muego had two pars on his card.
Blake Shurman, another member of Villanova’s Team Shurman, and Connor Michaels of Lancaster shared fourth place, each recording a 47, Jasper Zhang of West Chester was sixth with a 61 and Enzo Markert of Ambler rounded out the field in the coed 12-and-under division, finishing seventh with a 63.
