Wil Simonson of Haddonfield, N.J. made the most of a quick trip down the shore on the last Sunday in October as he claimed a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division Oct. 27th with a 5-over-par 76 at Avalon Golf Club.
Simonson made birdies at the seventh, ninth and 12th holes and had 10 pars on his scorecard on his way to the Philly Junior Tour win.
Trevor Sieben, the 13-to-15 division Player of the Year in 2023 from Medford, N.J., made birdies at the second and 12th holes and had nine pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Simonson in second place with a 6-over 77.
Brody Campbell of Plymouth Meeting and Ryan Yip of Marlboro, N.J. shared third place as each posted an 80. Campbell made birdies on the second and 16th holes and had six pars on his card. Yip’s steady round featured 10 pars.
Ryan Sun of Morganville, N.J. and Chase Andrews, a sophomore on the Souderton golf team, shared fifth place, each signing for an 81, Jack Ferm of Garnet Valley was seventh with an 82, Harrison Perry, a sophomore on the Episcopal Academy golf team from Berwyn, was eighth with an 83 and Evan Hahn of Berlin, N.J. was ninth with an 85.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division were Torrin Denton of Mullica Hill, N.J. and Jia Yan of Malvern as they ended up in a tie for 10th place, each registering an 87.
It was a weekend sweep on the Philly Junior Tour for Christopher Parrish of Woolwich Township, N.J. as he shared the top spot in the 16-to-18 division with Chase Adomaitis of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., each recording a 6-over 77.
Parrish, who has been one of the hottest players on the Philly Junior Tour, was a co-medalist along with two other players a day earlier in a stop at Buena Vista Country Club. Parrish made birdies at the second and eighth holes and had eight pars on his scorecard.
Adomaitis made birdies at the third, 10th and 16th holes and had eight pars on his card to get a share of first place with Parrish at 6-over.
Matthew Duphorn of Erdal, N.J. had 13 pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Parrish and Adomaitis in third place with a 78.
Brayden Tritsch of Medford, N.J. and Daniel Herzchel of Linwood, N.J. shared fourth place, each carding a 79, Michael Links of Swedesboro, N.J. was sixth with an 84 and Drake Brogan of Ocean View, N.J. was seventh with an 85.
Patrick Hiltner of Northfield, N.J. and Vaughn Coltys, another Linwood, N.J. entry, shared eighth place, each checking in with an 86, and Eric Coombs of North Cape May, N.J. rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as he finished 10th with an 87.
It was a weekend sweep for Jonathan Thomas of Landenberg as he topped the field of nine-holers for the second straight day with a 6-over 42.
Thomas, who won the coed 12-and-under division by five shots a day earlier at Buena Vista, made a birdie at the ninth hole and had three pars on his scorecard.
Reed Starzecki of Bryn Mawr earned runnerup honors as he had three pars on his card to finish three shots behind Thomas with a 45.
Zheng Yan, another member of Malvern’s Team Yan, closed out his round with a birdie at the ninth hole and had two pars on his card as he finished in third place with a 50.
Joseph (Joey) Charpentier of Schwenksville took fourth place with a 51, Dominic Scanny of Linwood, N.J. and Carter Blair of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. shared fifth, each signing for a 53, and Madison Keeley, another Egg Harbor Township entry, was seventh with a 56.
Emma Cowan of Moorestown, N.J. took eighth place with a 57 and Jack Spear of Villanova rounded out the field in the coed 12-and-under division as he finished ninth with a 58.
