Benjamin Robbins, a sophomore on the Lansdale Catholic golf team, and Freddy Hartmann, a sophomore on the Episcopal Academy golf team, each carded a solid 3-over-par 73 in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Philmont Country Club’s North Course in Lower Moreland Township Aug. 14th as they finished in a tie for first place in the 13-to-15 division.
Robbins, a Holland resident, made a birdie at the 10th hole and had 14 pars on his scorecard, finishing up his round with eight straight pars while touring the incoming nine at Philmont in 1-under 34.
Hartmann, a Devon resident, finished his round with a birdie at the 18th hole and had 14 pars on his card, including 10 straight pars to open his round.
Ayden Gallen of Broomall made birdies at the fifth and eighth holes and had 10 pars on his card as he finished in third place with a 5-over 75, two shots behind the top two.
Jack Luterman, a sophomore on The Haverford School golf team from Ardmore, and Thomas Carpenter of Bristol shared fourth place, each posting a 76.
Patrick Rode, another Broomall guy, took sixth place with a 77, Rayan Shah of Newtown was seventh with a 79, Henry Sokol of Villanova was eighth with an 80 and Colin Burke of Wilmington, Del. was ninth with an 81.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division was Jack Sokol, Henry Sokol’s twin brother, as Jack Sokol finished in 10th place with an 85.
Three players shared the top spot in the 16-to-18 division as Ian Yoo, a senior on the Wissahickon golf team, Zach Shrager of Jamison and Jake Benner of Harleysville each recorded a 7-over 77.
Yoo had 11 pars on his scorecard, including a string of five straight pars from the 12th through the 16th holes. Shrager made a birdie on the 15th hole and also had 11 pars on his card. Benner, like the other two co-medalists, had 11 pars on his card.
Matthew Duphorn of Erial, N.J. took fourth place with a 78, Kyan DeLong of Allentown and Devin Carpenter of Philadelphia shared fifth, each signing for a 79 and Ethan Barroway of Cherry Hill, N.J. was seventh with an 80.
Christopher Parrish of Woolwich Township, N.J. finished alone in eighth place with an 80. Parrish was coming off a share of first place in the Junior Tour Championship two days earlier at Chester Valley Golf Club.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division were Luke Daniels of Devon and Caden Wistreich of Blue Bell as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each registering an 82.
Madison Cabot of Newtown made a birdie on the 12th hole and had seven pars on her scorecard as she edged Emily Maurer of Mount Laurel, N.J. by a shot to earn a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 13-to-15 division with an 85.
Maurer had 10 pars on her card, including a run of five pars in a row from the fifth through the ninth holes, as she earned runnerup honors with an 86.
Adriana Seravalli, a Nazareth Academy sophomore, had five pars on her card as she finished three shots behind Maurer in third place with an 89. Seravalli helped Nazareth Academy capture the Catholic League girls golf title in its first year in the league last fall.
Gabrielle Kim of Ambler finished alone in fourth place as she carded a 100.
Rounding out the field in the 13-to-15 division were Marietta Hartmann, another member of Team Hartmann from Devon, and Rebecca Santoso of Chester Springs as they finished in a tie for fifth place, each tallying a 108.
Xunnan Dang of Newtown Square followed up an eagle at the par-5 fifth hole with a birdie at six as he bested the field of nine-holers with a sparkling 1-under 36. Dang also had five pars on his scorecard.
Jack Gilbert of Bryn Mawr made a birdie at the seventh hole and had five pars on his card, including four pars in a row from the second through the fifth holes, as he finished three shots behind Dang in second place with a solid 2-over 39.
Charlie Sears of Wilmington, Del. and Bobby Stefanski of Newtown Square finished in a tie for third place, each posting a 42. Sears made a birdie at the eighth hole and had two pars on his card while Stefanski made birdies at the fifth and seventh holes and had three pars on his card.
Benjamin Adkins of Lewes, Del. took fifth place with a 45 and a couple of entries from Ambler, Emilie Davoli and Mason Arnold, shared sixth, each recording a 49.
Rounding out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under division were four players who finished in a tie for eighth place at 54, a foursome that included Nolan English of Villanova, Carson McNamee of Harleysville, Carter Tracy of Smyrna, Del. and Thayer Boyd of Kennett Square.
