Jason Mack of Delaware Water Gap put together a solid 3-over-par 37 to top the field of nine-holers in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop Sunday at a chilly Heidelberg Country Club in Bernville, Berks County.
Mack birdied the ninth hole and had four pars on his scorecard. Last week I singled out the many Junior Tour appearances piled up by Lawson Leeper of York, who finished in a tie for second place at Heidelberg, four shots behind Mack.
Mack has a pretty impressive track record of his own on the Philly Junior Tour. Again, I’m not sure if his record includes starts from last fall, but Mack is listed as having 41 appearances and the victory at Heidelberg was his 12th for whatever the time frame is. Mack, who travels from one of the northernmost parts of the region to get to all those Philly Junior Tour events, was coming off a runnerup finish in Saturday’s stop at Linfield National Golf Club.
Leeper had five pars on his way to a 7-over 41 that earned him a share of second place with Hayden Sparks of Nazareth as Sparks had three pars in his round of 41.
Giulia Weisser of Reading took fourth place with a 44, Vyom Shukla of Berwyn was fifth with a 49 and Carter Hippauf of Quakertown was sixth with a 50. Alex DiGiacinto of Nazareth and Chase Dizel of Gap finished in a tie for seventh place, each landing on 51.
Ty Sheftic of Blue Bell took ninth place with a 52, Anderson Brexler of Doylestown was 10th with a 52 and Tara Griscavage of Mechanicsburg rounded out the coed 12-and-under division field as she finished alone in 11th place with a 61.
Aiden DeMuro of Harrisburg and Luke Weller of Reading shared the top spot in the boys 16-to-18 division, each posting a 9-over 79 over the par-70 Heidelberg layout. DeMuro birdied the 18th hole and had 10 pars on his scorecard. Weller had 10 pars on his card.
Grey Conta of Hummelstown and Adrian Jordan of Lawrenceville, N.J. finished in a tie for third place, each signing for an 80. Conta birdied the 11th hole and had eight pars on his scorecard, seven of them on Heidelberg’s front nine. Jordan made birdies at the sixth and ninth holes and had eight pars on his card.
A couple of Reading guys, Owen Wisner and David Birmingham, and Grant Novinger of Hummelstown finished in a three-way tie for fifth place, each registering an 85. Rounding out the field in the 16-to-18 division was Andrew Bauer of Reading as he finished alone in eighth place with a 92.
Tyler Sikorski of Lincoln University captured top honors in the 13-to-15 division as he made seven pars on his way to an 81.
John Curran of Malvern and Derek Johnson of Mountain Top finished in a tie for second place as each were a shot behind Sikorski with an 82. Curran made a birdie at the 11th hole and had six pars on his scorecard. Johnson had seven pars on his card.
A couple of Harrisburg guys, Landry Rohrbaugh and Joseph Sembrot, shared fourth place as each posted an 86. Sean Kelly of Palmyra took sixth place with an 89 and Brent Glah of Ambler rounded out the 13-to-15 division field as he finished alone in seventh place with a 99.
