The focus was on the girls when the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stopped at Pitman Golf Course in Sewell, N.J. on a glorious fall Sunday, particularly the younger 13-to-15 division as Isabella Wang of Lawrenceville, N.J. outdueled Alaina Carson of Broomall to take the victory by two shots with a sparkling 4-over-par 74.
Wang’s steady round featured 14 pars, including seven straight pars to finish her round. Wang made eight pars on the incoming nine at Pittman in a back nine of 1-over 36.
Carson made a birdie on the par-3 14th hole and had 11 pars on her scorecard as she earned runnerup honors with a solid 6-over 76.
Megan Choi of Penn Valley made birdies on the second and eighth holes and had four pars on her card as she finished in third place with an 84.
Macai Klein of Moorestown, N.J. took fourth place with a 94, Kasey O’Brien of Linwood, N.J. was fifth with a 102 and Gabriella Magno of Delran, N.J. rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as she finished sixth with a 131.
Isabella Magno, another member of Team Magno out of Delran, N.J., finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division as she had six pars on her scoreboard, including three in a row to finish up her round, on her way to an 88.
Carly Kuminka of Mickleton, N.J. had two pars on her card to finish three shots behind Isabella Magno in second place with a 91.
Upper Merion junior Alyssa Schuebel rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as she finished in third place with a 105.
Jamie Ciesielka of Woolwich Township, N.J. completed a winning weekend on the Philly Junior Tour as he earned a victory in the boys 16-to-18 division with a 5-over 75.
Ciesielka, who shared the top spot among the older guys in Saturday’s Philly Junior Tour stop at Deerfield Golf Club, made a birdie on the third hole at Pitman and had 12 pars on his scorecard.
Connor Breen of Medford, N.J., Cameron Maun of West Chester and Ethan Legarda of Voorhees, N.J. finished in a tie for second place as each ended up four shots behind Ciesielka with a 79.
Breen made a birdie on the first hole and had eight pars on his card, Maun had nine pars on his card and Legarda made birdies on the seventh and 15th holes and had eight pars on his card.
Devin Carpenter of Philadelphia and Brandon Carrigan of Warrington shared fifth place, each posting an 81, Joey Simonetti of Bellmawr, N.J. was seventh with an 89 and Sam Ritti of Ocean View, N.J. and Ryan Johnson of Pittsgrove, N.J. finished in a tie for eighth place, each landing on 90.
Rounding out the field in the 16-to-18 division were Sebastian Furfaro of Mickleton, N.J. and Joseph Mancini of Philadelphia as they finished in a tie for 10th place, each tallying a 94.
Ryan Sun of Morganville, N.J. made birdies on the second and 16th holes and had 10 pars on his scorecard as he claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division with a 6-over 76.
Trevor Sieben of Medford, N.J. made a birdie on the 15th hole and had 10 pars on his card, including a string of five straight pars from the seventh through the 11th holes as he earned runnerup honors with a 78.
Carson Deringer of Bryn Mawr had nine pars on his card as he finished in third place with an 80.
Tyler Whitney of Cherry Hill, N.J. took fourth place with an 84 and Archmere Academy sophomore Michael Liu, a Garnet Valley resident, was fifth with an 85. Liu had the best score of the day with a 2-over 72 in claiming a Philly Junior Tour victory a day earlier at Deerfield.
Nicholas Fargnoli of Mickleton, N.J. took sixth place with an 86, Christopher Pullano of Wynnewood was seventh with an 89, Michael Doyle of Haddonfield, N.J. was eighth with a 93 and Colin Burke of Wilmington, Del. was ninth with a 97.
Owen Ferguson of Moorestown, N.J. rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as he finished in 10th place with a 103.
Henry Sokol of Villanova bested a typically competitive bunch of nine-holers as he made birdies on the third and fifth holes and had four pars on his scorecard on his way to a solid 1-over 36. Henry Sokol had been the runnerup in the coed 12-and-under division a day earlier with a 43 at Deerfield.
Ben Meixell of Wilmington, Del. and William Thorkelson of Bryn Mawr each finished a s shot behind Henry Sokol in a tie for second place with a 2-over 37. Meixell had seven pars on his card while Thorkelson made a birdie on the second hole and had six pars on his card.
Jacob Russell of Wilmington, Del. took fourth place and Jack Sokol, another member of Villanova’s Team Sokol, and Taimoor Naseem of Sinking Spring finished in a tie for fifth place, each tallying a 40. Naseem was coming off a Philly Junior Tour victory with a 40 a day earlier at Deerfield.
Lucas Solano of Vineland, N.J. ended up alone in seventh place with a 41 and the trio of Zheng Yan of Malvern, Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del. and Charlie Sears of Wilmington, Del. rounded out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under division as they finished in a tie for eighth place, each recording a 48.
