Brayden Tritsch of Medford, N.J. put together a solid 6-over-par 78 on a chilly, blustery Oct. 15th to finish at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Riverwinds Golf & Tennis Club just over the Walt Whitman Bridge from Philadelphia in West Deptford, N.J.
Tritsch closed out his round with a birdie at the 18th hole and had 10 pars on his scorecard.
John Bollendorf of Sewell, N.J. made birdies at the fifth and 13th holes and had eight pars on his card, including four straight to finish up his round as he earned runnerup honors with an 81.
Jamie Ciesielka of Woolwich Township, N.J. and Enrique Altmann of Mickleton, N.J. finished in a tie for third place, each posting an 84. Ciesielka made a birdie on the 13th hole and had six pars on his card while Altmann made back-to-back birdies at seven and eight and had seven pars on his card.
Ryan Johnson of Pittsgrove, N.J. took fifth place with an 87, Devin Carpenter of Philadelphia was sixth with an 88, Luke Tappeiner of Northfield, N.J. was seventh with an 89 and Chase Adomaitis of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. was eighth with a 92.
Jayden Goodson of Philadelphia rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as he finished in ninth place with a 97.
Daniel Herzchel of Linwood, N.J. made birdies at the third and 10th holes and had 10 pars on his scorecard as he claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division with a 79.
Archmere Academy sophomore Michael Liu, a Garnet Valley resident, jump-started his round by making an eagle on the par-5 first hole. Liu added birdies at the 10th and 13th holes and had six pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Herzchel in second place with an 80.
Trevor Sieben of Medford, N.J. made birdies on the first, sixth and 13th holes and had six pars on his card as he finished in third place with an 82.
Jaxon Piccoli and Patrick Hiltner of Northfield, N.J. shared fourth place, each recording an 84, Michael Doyle of Haddonfield, N.J. was sixth with an 87, Carter Appleby of Lititz was seventh with a 90 and Evan Zakielarz of Wilmington, Del. was eighth with a 92.
Luke Matthews of Aston took ninth place with an 88 and Ryan Guenard of Furlong rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished in 10th place with an 89.
The best score turned in by any player, boy or girl, came out of the girls 13-to-15 division as Germantown Friends School freshman Sarah Stumacher of Gladwyne claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory with a solid 1-over 73. Looks like somebody’s been practicing.
Stumacher made birdies at the first, second, fourth and 11th holes and had 10 pars on her scorecard, including a stretch of six in a row from the 12th through the 17th holes.
It wasn’t a bad day either for Rylee Delaney, playing close to her West Deptford, N.J. home, as she made a hole-in-one on the second hole and had seven pars on her card to earn runnerup honors behind Stumacher with an 85.
Megan Choi of Penn Valley made birdies on the 15th and 18th holes and had three pars on her card as she finished a shot behind Delaney in third place with an 86.
Anna Firko of Wilmington, Del. took fourth place with a 95 and Gabriella Magno of Delran, N.J. rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as she finished fifth with a 138.
Isabella Magno, another member of Team Magno out of Delran, N.J., was the lone entry in the 16-to-18 division and made a par on the 12th hole to claim a Philly Junior Tour victory with a 101.
Rayan Shah of Newtown continued his dominance of a very competitive group of nine-holers as he matched par with a 36 to win for the 21st time in 2023.
Shah birdied the ninth hole and had seven pars on his scorecard, opening his round with six straight pars.
Ethan Meersman of Fort Washington and Henry Sokol of Villanova finished in a tie for second place, each ending up five shots behind Shah with a 5-over 41. Meersman and Henry Sokol each had four pars on his card.
A couple of Bryn Mawr guys, William Quartermain and William Thorkelson, shared fourth place as each posted a 43 and another Bryn Mawr guy, Bryce Moyer, finished in a tie for sixth place with Nathan Lavin of Burlington, N.J.
Jack Sokol, Henry Sokol’s twin brother, took eighth place with a 48, Jaxson Refold, yet another entry from Bryn Mawr, was ninth with a 51 and Charlie Sears of Wilmington, Del. rounded out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under division as he finished 10th with a 52.
