Colin McAskin of New York City made it a sweep of last weekend’s Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour events with a solid 1-over-par 73 at Lebanon Country Club that gave him the top spot in the 13-to-15 division on a windy and chilly Sunday.
McAskin must be a pretty good wind player as he was coming off a victory in the Philly Junior Tour stop a day earlier at Heidelberg Country Club when the weekend winds first started to kick up.
McAskin got off to a hot start at Lebanon with birdies at the second, fourth, fifth and seventh holes in a front nine of 3-under 33. McAskin added a birdie at the 14th hole and had nine pars on his scorecard.
Ian Larsen, coming off a solid freshman season at Downingtown West, ripped off three straight birdies at the fifth, sixth and seventh holes and added three more birdies on the back nine at 10, 13 and 14 to go along with five pars on his card as he finished three shots behind McAskin in second place among the younger guys.
Quinn McDonald of Hershey made birdies at the first and 10th holes and had 10 pars on his card, six of them on the incoming nine, as he took third place with a 6-over 78.
Lower Merion sophomore Seiji Sako, coming off a really strong showing in the PIAA Class AAA Championship at Penn State’s Blue Course last week, took fourth place in the 13-to-15 division with an 83. Sako finished in a tie for fourth place in the state tournament, the best finish for a District One player at Penn State.
Archmere Academy sophomore Michael Liu, a Garnet Valley resident, and Charlie Sheehan of Lititz shared fifth place, each posting an 89, Luke Fallon of Reading was seventh with a 90, Vyom Shukla of Berwyn was eighth with a 95 and Carter Appleby, another entry from Lititz, was ninth with a 98.
Rounding out the field in the 13-to-15 division was Shawn Zhu of Downingtown as he finished in 10th place with a 110.
Logan Francis of Annville made six birdies, at the second, sixth, seventh, ninth, 15th and 17th holes, and had six pars on his scorecard as he earned a Philly Junior Tour win in the 16-to-18 division with a 2-over 74.
Chase Dillman, coming off a solid junior season at Boyertown, made birdies at the fourth and seventh holes and had 10 pars on his card as he finished in second place with a 7-over 79. Austin Fulton of Carlisle made a birdie at the 17th hole and had three pars on his card as he took third place with a 91.
Rounding out the field in the 16-to-18 division was Max Miller of Hershey as he ended up in fourth place with a 99.
Kiersten Bodge, a West Chester resident and a freshman at the Academy of Notre Dame, made an eagle at the 448-yard, par-5 seventh hole as she earned a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 13-to-15 division with a solid 6-over 78.
Bodge has been the runnerup in the last two playings of the Inter-Ac League Championship at French Creek Golf Club the last two springs. She was back at the Lebanon layout where she finished in a tie for sixth place in the Pennsylvania Junior Girls’ Championship in June.
In addition to her eagle at the seventh hole, Bodge made birdies at two and six and had seven pars on her scorecard.
Megan Choi of Penn Valley had five pars on her card as she claimed runnerup honors with a 90. Isabella Wang of Lawrenceville, N.J. made a birdie at the 12th hole and had seven pars on her card as she finished in third place with a 94.
Bryn Brandt, playing close to her Lebanon home, took fourth place with a 99 and Gabriella Magno of Delran, N.J. rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as she finished fifth with a 128.
Preston Minio of Lansdale made back-to-back birdies at the second and third holes and had three pars on his scorecard as he bested the field of nine-holers with a 3-over 39.
Villanova’s Team Sokol, twin brothers Henry and Jack Sokol, accounted for the next two spots on the leaderboard as Henry Sokol had six pars on his card to take second place with a 4-over 40 and Jack Sokol made a birdie at the seventh hole and had three pars on his card as he was third with a 41.
A day earlier at Heidelberg, it was Jack Sokol who claimed low-Sokol honors as he finished in second place and Henry Sokol took third.
Taimoor Naseem of Sinking Spring, coming off a victory at Heidelberg in the very competitive coed 12-and-under division, finished in fourth place at Lebanon with a 42.
Ben Meixell of Wilmington, Del. took fifth place with a 48, Drew Gebhard, playing close to his Lebanon home, was sixth with a 50, Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del. and Jaxson Refold of Bryn Mawr shared seventh, each landing on 51, and Benjamin Gangemi of Downingtown was ninth with a 57.
Kolton Vannoy of Phoenixville and Jia Yan of Malvern finished in a tie for 10th place, each tallying a 62.
Rounding out the field in the coed 12-and-under division was Zheng Yan, another member of Malvern’s Team Yan who finished in 12th place with a 68.
