Nick Belgrade of Wilmington, Del. made an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole at Regents’ Glen Country Club in York on his way to a 2-under-par 70 that gave him a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division Saturday.
Pretty sure the relentless rains of a couple of weekends ago kept the Philly Junior Tour kids off the golf course, but conditions improved in time for some of the youngsters to get back in the groove.
Belgrade also made birdies on the 10th, 14th and 16th holes and finished with 11 pars on his scorecard. Belgrade came out of the gate with seven straight pars while touring the outgoing nine at Regents’ Glen in 1-under 35.
Alex Kaun of Lancaster had a steady round, making a birdie at the third hole and finishing with 15 pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with a solid 1-over 73, three shots behind Belgrade. Kaun ripped off eight straight pars from the 10th through the 17th holes.
Anthony Manzi of Newtown Square made a birdie on the fourth hole and had 10 pars on his card, including six straight to close out his round as he finished in third place with an 80.
Davin Lysik of Wilmington, Del. finished a shot behind Manzi in fourth place with an 81 and Jackson Shearer of Harrisburg rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as he ended up in fifth with a 112.
Onyu Park of Blue Bell made birdies on the ninth, 12th and 17th holes and had nine pars on his scorecard, including seven straight from the second through the eighth holes, as he finished at the top of the 13-to-15 division leaderboard with a 7-over 79.
Callen Edmonston of Thurmont, Md. made a birdie on the ninth hole and had 10 pars on his card as he finished in second place with an 82.
Zack Beaverson of York made a birdie on the sixth hole and had eight pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Edmonston in third place with an 83.
Mason Peart of Littlestown took fourth place with a 91, Winston Chew of Exton was fifth with a 95 and Chad Hughey of Rehoboth Beach, Del. rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as he finished sixth with a 98.
Kirsten Weiss of Oreland was the only player who teed it up in the girls divisions at Regents’ Glen and she made a par on the 11th hole as she claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division with a 116.
Jack Metroka of Meadowbrook and Taimoor Naseem of Sinking Springs each made three birdies as they shared the top spot among the nine-holers as both recorded a 2-over 38,
Metroka made birdies on the fifth, eighth and ninth holes and had two pars on his scorecard while Naseem made birdies on the second, sixth and seventh holes and had three pars on his card.
Rayan Shah of Newtown, who has dominated a very competitive coed 12-and-under division this season had five pars on his card, making five straight pars from the fourth through the eighth holes, as he finished in third place with a 42.
Connor Masulis of Pottstown took fourth place with a 49, Raegan Young of Middletown was fifth with a 53, Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del. was sixth with a 56 and Jasper Zhang of West Chester rounded out the field in the coed 12-and-under division as he finished seventh with a 70.
