Derek Johnson of Mountain Top carded a 5-over-par 77 at Buck Hill Falls in Mountainhome in the Poconos to earn a victory in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop Sept. 17th.
There was also a Philly Junior Tour stop at Bala Golf Club that same day, but Buck Hill Falls gave some of the juniors in the northern tier of the Philadelphia Section an option a little closer to home.
Derek Johnson made birdies at the fourth, 10th and 12th holes and had eight pars on his scorecard.
Jackson Shearer of Harrisburg rounded out a short field in the 16-to-18 division as he made a birdie on the first hole and had five pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with a 96.
Benjamin Moorhouse of Blue Bell had 11 pars on his scorecard, eight of them on his way to a 1-over 37 on the incoming nine at Buck Hill Falls, as he prevailed in a tight battle to claim a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division with an 80.
Only two shots separated the top four finishers in the division.
Collin Schreiber of Kunkletown had nine pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Moorhouse in second place with an 81.
Kyan DeLong of Allentown and Joseph Chachkin of Jenkintown were another shot behind Schreiber in a tie for fourth place as each tallied an 82.
DeLong made a birdie on the 12th hole and had nine pars on his card, including five straight pars to finish out his round. Chachkin had 11 pars on his card and, like DeLong, parred out in his final five holes, starting at 14.
Brady Johnson, another member of Mountain Top’s Team Johnson, took fifth place with a 91.
Parker Bohn of Harleysville rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as he finished in sixth place with a 102.
