Playing in the final group of the day, the Radley Run
Country Club pair of Shawn Hall and Stewart Carrihill used a red-hot finish
over the back nine at Applebrook Golf Club in East Goshen to claim a one-shot
victory in the Philadelphia Section PGA’s National Car Rental Pro-Scratch
Championship Tuesday.
Hall and Carrihill made the turn at 1-under, but then ripped
off six birdies on the final nine holes in the better-ball-of-partners format
for a 7-under 64.
The Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club team of John Lynch
and Jay Whitby were in the first group of the day and put a 6-under 65 on the
board. That figure was matched by the homestanding Applebrook duo of Dave McNabb
and Chris Lawler. But the late burst by Hall and Carrihill relegated the
co-leaders in the clubhouse to a tie for second.
Four teams finished in a tie for fourth at 5-under 66. Those
teams were: Hugo Mazzalupi and Jose Rovelli of Patriots Glen National Golf
Club; Eric McNamee and Fred Shaw of Golf Galaxy – Montgomery; Eric Schultz and
Frank Natale of Sunnybrook Golf Club; and Andrew Turner and Nicky Marrollo of
Whitford Country Club.
Four more teams ended up in a tie for eighth at 4-under
67. Included in that group were: Ryan
Lagergren and Stonewall club champion Dave Gibbons; Barry Dear and Ryan Cass of
Twisted Dune Golf Club; Jeff Fick and Joe Buffo of Chapel Hill Golf Club; and
Mike Meisenzahl and Tom Spano of Shore Gate Golf Club.
