Carson Bacha of York completed a sweep of the Philadelphia
Section PGA Junior Tour’s Junior Golf Scoreboard State College Series by firing
a 1-over 73 at Penn State’s Blue Course to take the 13-to-15 division Friday.
Bacha had two birdies on his way to his 1-over round over
the 6,550-yard, par-72 Blue Course. Bacha had also won the 13-to-15 division on
the two previous stops on the series, Wednesday at Mountain View Country Club
in Boalsburg and Thursday at the Toftrees Resort in State College.
Grant Gronka was the runnerup with a 77, a round that
included three birdies, two on the back nine. Ethan Hardyk of State College,
Derek Lewis of Williamsport and Joshua Brauer of Royersford finished tied for
third, each carding a 91.
Kohltin Bartlow of Montgomery had five birdies, three of
them on par-5s, as he carded an even-par 72 to take top honors in the 16-to-18
division. Garrett Barilar of Bloomsburg was the runnerup as he was just a shot
back at 1-over 73. Barilar had three birdies, including two on an even-par
front nine.
Jacob Suder of Greencastle and Michael Robinson of
Gettysburg shared third place at 76. Luke Hoffnagle of Hanover and Mason Wills
of Lititz finished in a tie for fifth with 77s.
Connor Bacha of York and Logan Snyder of Dover finished in a
tie for seventh, each posting a 78. Tre Fleck of Lewistown took ninth with a 79
and Holden Hitchcock of Laceyville rounded out the top 10 as he placed 10th
with an 82.
Kendel Abrams of New Freedom had a pair of birdies, one on
each nine, to take the girls 16-to-18 division with an outstanding 3-over 75. The
runnerup was Natalie Jacobs of West Chester, who finished off her 86 in style
with a birdie at the 18th hole.
Alexis Wyandt of Dallas finished third with a 91, Ella Moores
of Abottstown took fourth with a 96 and Thea Nagle of Mechanicsburg placed
fifth with a 106.
Lily Byrne of Downingtown topped the field in the 13-to-15
division with an 86 for her first Junior Tour victory. Amanda Gerrish of
Hummelstown took second with a 95 and Sophia Mochan of Boalsburg was third with
a 116.
Among the nine-holers, Maxwell Wager of State College was
the winner with a 6-over 42. John Olsen of Boalsburg was the runnerup with a
45.
York’s Carson Bacha was the series winner in the 13-to-15
with rounds of 74 at Mountain View and 72 at Toftrees added to his 73 at the
Blue Course for a 219 total. Bloomsburg’s Gronka battled gamely for the entire
series, breaking 80 at all three courses to take second at 230.
Hanover’s Hoffnagle, who jumped in front with his winning 71
at Mountain View, held on with a 77 at Toftrees to go with the 77 he posted at
the Blue Course for a 225 total that gave him the series title in the 16-to-18
division. Bloomsburg’s Barilar and Montgomery’s Bartlow finished in a tie for
second, a shot back at 226.
Olsen was the only nine-holer to tee it up at all three
courses and won the series title with a 136 total. He had a 49 at Mountain View
and a 42 at Toftrees before adding the 45 he put up at the Blue Course.
