Niko Muego of Bryn Mawr was a dominant winner of the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour’s boys 12-and-under Championship with a sparkling 1-under-par 32 at McCall Golf & Country Club in Upper Darby Aug. 13th.
Muego had a hot streak earlier in the summer and continued to be one of the top contenders among a competitive bunch of boys 12-and-under nine-holers.
But Muego separated himself from the pack at McCall as he made birdies at the first and sixth holes and had six pars on his scorecard, including a stretch of four consecutive pars from two through five.
When Muego made a birdie at the sixth hole, he was 2-under for his round before the only blemish on his card, a bogey at seven.
On the girls side, Trisha Lobo, the talented 11-year-old from Collegeville, carded a solid 6-over 39 to capture the title.
Joey Charpentier of Schwenksville and Baylor Keim of Blue Bell were Muego’s closest pursuers among the guys as they shared second place, each signing for a 3-over 36.
Charpentier had six pars on his card, including consecutive pars at the fourth, fifth and sixth holes.
As I mentioned in my post on a regular Philly Junior Tour stop at Kimberton Golf Club near Phoenixville that same day, it looks like Charpentier hustled to Kimberton after his round at McCall was finished and captured a victory at Kimberton.
It was an all-or-nothing round for Keim at McCall as he made an early birdie at the first hole, went back-to-back with birdies at five and six and added a fourth birdie at eight, although he didn’t have a par on his card.
Jace Collins of Spring Brook Township took fourth place with a 37 and the trio of Sid Joshi of Coopersburg, Michael Antolino of Richboro and James Wilson of Wilmington, Del. shared fifth, each tallying a 38.
Rounding out the top 10 among the boys in the Philly Junior Tour 12-and-under Championship were a couple of Wayne guys, Jack Kolmer and Hudson Avery, and Ryan Stefanski of Newtown Square as they finished in a tie for eighth place, each recording a 39.
Only seven shots separated first place from the trio tied for eighth as the boys 12-and-under division continues to be very competitive.
Lobo was the Philly Junior Tour girls 12-and-under division Player of the Year in 2025 and she has continued to improve.
Lobo made four pars at McCall to take the Philly Junior Tour girls 12-and-under Championship title with her 39.
Arianna Testaiuti of Newtown Square had three pars on her scorecard, finishing her round with back-to-back pars at the eighth and ninth holes, to earn runnerup honors with a 46.
Skylar Crutchfield of Elkins Park had three pars on her card and also closed out her round with back-to-back pars at the eighth and ninth holes as she finished a shot behind Testaiuti in third place with a 47. Pretty good playing for a Class of 2035 9-year-old.
Addison Sabatini of West Chester took fourth place with a 49, Vivian Anderson of Wilmington, Del. was fifth with a 51, Lauryn Kirby of Chester Springs was sixth with a 53 and Sydney Lim of Harleysville was seventh with a 54.
Sophia Kim, another Chester Springs girl, took eighth place with a 56 and Julie Prickitt of Ambler rounded out the field in the Philly Junior Tour girls 12-and-under Championship as she finished ninth with a 58.
