Julian finds his groove at Kimberton to capture a Philly Junior Tour victory

 

   Jake Julian of Malvern had the best score of the day among the guys with a 3-over-par 73 at Kimberton Golf Club in East Vincent, Chester County as he claimed a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division Aug. 13^th.

   Julian made birdies at the seventh and 14^th holes and had 12 pars on his scorecard, opening his round with four straight pars, in a solid outing over the George Fazio design off Route 23 just west of Phoenixville.

   Eric Cunningham of Wayne made birdies at the 10^th and 14^th holes and had 12 pars on his card, closing out his round with four straight pars, as he finished a shot behind Julian in second place with a 4-over 74.

   Sam Whitehouse of Pottstown made a birdie at the 10^th hole and had 13 pars on his card, twice making four pars in a row from six through nine and again on the last four holes of his round, as he finished a shot behind Cunningham in third place with a 75.

   Steven Musacchio of Glenmoore and Cole Jacobson of Phoenixville shared fourth place, each signing for a 76, and Gavin Brand of Newtown Square finished sixth with a 77.

   Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division was a four-player logjam tied for seventh place at 78 that included Jack Ferry of Port Deposit, Md., John Wenzel of Maple Glen, Bobby Stefanski of Newtown Square and Jack Gilbert of Bryn Mawr.

   Only five shots separated the top-10 finishers in a very competitive group of 13-to-15 division players.

   The trio of Grady O’Hair of Downingtown, John McCarthy of Conshohocken and Jimmy Warmkessel of Malvern shared the top spot in the 16-to-18 division as each posted a 4-over 74.

   O’Hair, the son of PGA Tour pro Sean O’Hair and a junior at Malvern Prep, made a birdie at the 16^th hole and had 12 pars on his scorecard, including a stretch of seven consecutive pars from four through 10.

   McCarthy, who wrapped up his scholastic career at Upper Merion last fall, had an early birdie at the third hole, went back-to-back with birdies at 14 and 15 and had eight pars on his card, including a string of five straight pars from seven through 11.

   Warmkessel, a senior co-captain on Episcopal Academy’s Inter-Ac League championship team last fall, made birdies at the 15^th and 17^th holes and had 10 pars on his card, including a run of six straight pars from five through 10.

   Max Berish, a senior on the Owen J. Roberts golf team, took fourth place with a 78, Matt DeMarco, a senior on the Cardinal O’Hara golf team, and Chase Schmidt of Waterford, N.J. shared fifth, each recording a 79 and Liam Ren of Garnet Valley finished seventh with an 83.

   Braiden Loaiza, a junior on the Appoquinimink golf team, and Aidan Corter of West Chester shared eighth place, each tallying an 84, Luke Bergin of Wayne was 10^th with an 85 and Rory Jones of Glenside rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as he finished 11^th with an 88.

   Really solid showing by Molly Wagner, a Newark, Del. resident and a junior on the St. Mark’s golf team, as she made a birdie at the ninth hole and had 10 pars on her scorecard, including three straight pars at 10, 11 and 12, as she earned a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division with a 6-over 76.

   Allison Choi of Penn Valley had four pars on her card, including back-to-back pars at the 15^th and 16^th holes, as she earned runnerup honors with a 96.

   Mae Racowski of Newtown Square rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division, finishing in third place with a 101.

   Reagan Miller, a junior on the Lampeter-Strasburg golf team, was the lone entrant in the 16-to-18 division and she made a birdie at the seventh hole and had five pars on her scorecard, including back-to-back pars at five and six and again at 15 and 16, as she posted an 83.

   Joey Charpentier of Schwenksville had seven pars on his scorecard, opening his round with three straight pars, as he bested the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers with a 2-over 36.

   Charpentier had registered a Philly Junior Tour victory a week earlier at Paxon Hollow Country Club. Looks like Charpentier might have hit Kimberton on his way home from the Philly Junior Tour 12-and-under Championship, held earlier in the day at McCall Golf Club in Upper Darby. That should be my next post.

   Kash Gray of Eagleville made a birdie at the seventh hole and had five pars on his card, also opening his round with three straight pars, as he finished two shots behind Charpentier in second place with a 4-over 38.

   Dino Luccia of North Wales and Tyler Drinker of West Chester shared third place as each tallied a 40.

   Luccia made a birdie at the sixth hole and had three pars on his card and Drinker also made a birdie at six and had four pars on his card.

   Bennett Cho of Chesterbrook took fifth place with a 46 and Jacob Salansky of Gilbertsville and Beau Townend of Devon shared sixth, each recording a 48.

   Ethan Hong of Radnor took eighth place with a 49 and Soren Cohen of Bala Cynwyd rounded out the field in the boys 12-and-under division as he finished ninth with a 54.

   Allison Hong of Wayne finished in first place in a short field of girls 12-and-under nine-holers with a 51.

   Victoria Leonard of Merion Station rounded out the field in the girls 12-and-under division as she was the runnerup with a 63.
